why did morales even take the third fight if he is really done after the 2nd fight?

If the headbutt didn't happen. Morales could win a SD. But I don't even see Pacquiao winning.
Morales was the better man that night. He has the gameplan for Pacquiao's 1 dimensional attack. which is attack attack right jab right jab straight left.

 

Pacman is a late bloomer at the time he wasn't skilled, and was really relying on workrate and 1-1-2 combo. He has improved buh, IMO. JMM is the Pac-man kryptonite. Morales in his prime woulda/coulda stopped or maybe drop Pacquiao. Pac-man is at the same age as Jmm now skillwise and smarter wise he has bridged the gap. But Marquez is the best counterer I have ever seen and would school Pac anytime anywhere. Except in the streets of Gensan.

Pac got a big cut due to a headbutt.
Pac also didn't get to wear his punchers glove...Morales game is to win on points - Pac game is to win by a knockout.
I know it was Pac first fight at 130 and he was the smaller man but I don't hold that against Morales.

Agree.. With all due respect to MABs career, a win over Pac is greater than any fight barrera has won. Pac is definitely a top 50 P4P ATG.

 

A few things.....

Gloves - More of a comfort thing for Pac as he is used to those type gloves, that all goes out the window once the nerves for the fight kick in & when the 1st punch is thrown.
Even if Reyes did do SO much more damage than winning (which I doubt) then the man that continually lands the cleaner harder punches is likely to get the KO, we know who landed the better punches in that 1st fight now dont we ?

Primes - Morales was declining fight by fight, month by month while Pac was improving, hence the W12 EM - TKO10 Pac - KO3 Pac. Morales decline was far speedier than Pac`s improvement as shown by Pac`s performances vs both JMM & MAB either side of the Pac/EM trilogy. If anything Pac did better as the `one dimensional` fighter vs both.

Cut - Grow up, Pac is an elite fighter, you actually make him sound weak by saying he let that bother him in his biggest fight.
Also, the pattern of the fight never changed after rd 5 when the cut happened, it remained the same with Pac darting forward throwing loads of punches & Erik countering him, using his jab & trading every now & then... the pattern never changed throughout except rd 12 when Erik turned southy.


I dont understand why these threads are being made continually, are Pac fans such ****in insecure morons that they cant accept that he lost a fight fair & square.

it was indeed. was quite a tragedy for me when i am fan of both. and i am a filipino.

but then again, both own convincing wins over the other. so no tragedy for me after all.

 

I had Morales winning before the headbutt and if you watch the early rounds Morales was outboxing Pacquiao in rounds 2, 3, and round 5. The result would of been the same, even if there was no headbutt.
