I love Pernell but hes now in the category of God when it involves nostalgia. The truth is Pacquiao would walk him down just for the fact that a mosquito bite would hurt him more than Whitaker punches.

Floyd is a tougher fight for Pac because his defense is textbook, tucked in chin sideway stance. And Floyd has at least pop which keeps you honest. Pea relied too much on reflexes to avoid shots, sure he can duck and play fancy if he wants but Pac throws from angles hes not even aware of. I just cant see Pac losing this fight at 140 above.

I hate to say it but I actually think Pac could very well beat Chavez more then Chavez beats Pac, and I think thats something that should be starting to be looked at realistically.

:rofl You cant make this **** up. Whitaker has kept heavy hitters and some of the best chins in boxing honest. He beat Chavez fighting on the inside. He actually moves his head in the ring. Pernell Whitaker at his peak was probably the hardest fighter to beat next to Roy Jones. B/c he had a short prime means nothing. Pacquiao has been beatable for 80% of his career and actually lost fights. Pea lost one in his prime and had a draw which was a robbery. :rofl Pea beat opponents in their primes when they actually had real championship belts. Not some made up titles and Top Ranks roster.

All of this bull**** talk and we have still yet to see Pac fight a ****ing boxer. Or fight someone outside Top Rank's stable since Hatton. Of course he is going to keep beating guys he has the style advantage for.. Come forward face first plodders.

Thank you, This is the realest thing said in this thread thus far.

It's true. 147lbs was not for JCC.

I am a massive *******, but Pernell Whitaker would outbox and defeat Manny for sure. He's all wrong for Manny, and just a higher class fighter all round.

But there's absolutely no shame in that. Sweet Pea would box the chops off Floyd Mayweather as well, he is one of the greatest boxers of all-time in terms of ability.

That's pretty much all that needs to be said on the subject to be honest.

Chavez would be an interesting fight for sure, but Whitaker? He'd have clowned Pac-man in his prime.

I disagree, Pac has the speed to catch Pernell from any range because of his angles and not having the worry of a counter is everything in this matchup. Its the speed and angles that Pac presents that would be troublesome and forget Peas jab(good one) but Manny would eat that up once he feels tickled by Pea.

Sure hes beaten some greats and Chavez but Chavez is not as fast as Pac. It was a style problem from his perspective. If Chavez had Pacs speed and awkwardness, he beats Pea for sure.

IMHo, Chavez vs. PAc is 50/50 because its going to be war and Chavez has heavy hands. Its the styles.
