Maybe he has a point but for the most part and I respect Finitos opinion, but I think the world agrees that Philippiinoes are the best fighters out of Asia bar none. I don't think it is a coincidence that former spanish colonies seem to have done well in the sport.
It is Filipino my friend, and also Filipinos are the most educated people in whole of asia believe or not.

Pacman is a first of his kind. There's been some good Asian fighters throughout the years, but there's never been a great Asian fighter that is also a big star so Manny is very special.
though i agree on some of the reasons laid down by some why pq is not popular in asia, i do believe less educated in not one of them. on the contrary, the pilipinos are one of the most educated peoples in the continent. the most probable i can think of is more our blood and culture.as we know, the chinese, koreans and japanese want bloods purity. most pilipinos do have amixed ancestries, and our culture is not asian though the philippines is located in asia. western culture has been engraved in the hearts of the people for more 300 years by spaniards and 50 years by the americans. even our educational system is copied from the west.
And Americans, Australians and British flocks to Philippine every summer to go to boracay and Makati to enjoy our bars and disco. Chinese flocks our market because they're products sells more. Vietnamese and Koreans WANTED to study in our country rather than theirs, just go to Baguio and 40% who are studying there are Koreans, Indians and Viets. I think theres even a documentary about it "Why do they study in Philippines". And in UAE, Middle East they would choose a Pinoy worker over an Arab or Indian. ALL TRUE STORY. The truth, thats why im so proud to be a pinoy.
Not really THAT educated but we follow a lot of good traits. We aren't really that thinkful unlike Japan who invents tons of shits (i.e. Bottled Water in a Can, Tissue holder hat), We aren't a power hungry people xception of our government.... we are just simply open minded people who inherit alot of traits from different races.
I disagree and agree. There have been some greats and like Harada, Galaxy but most have come from the Philippines. Not big stars like Manny but arguably as great. Take a fighter like Elorde who has a who's who on his resume. He probably was not as big a star as Pacquiao but could be argued to be greater than Pacquiao along with Villa. Reason for the lack of popularity in my opinion is that traditionally Asian fighters don't sell in the market that counts, which is the U.S.. Mexico and puerto Rico boarder the U.S. and there is a market for them. Asia has some great fighters specifically from the Philippines. That is why the Korean Pacquiao is not an impossibility if only the Korean market shows strength that they can market a Korean fighter in the U.S. I hope that happens because I would want to see the best. I believe there are hidden talents in Korea, Japan, India, that we may never see.

Where did you get this fact? I guess they are world class but where are they ranked is a more pertinent question. BTW Pacquaio is very popular, Id say just as popular as any American boxer at the moment that DLH has retired.
That is not what im saying. Take Morales for example. He is a hot commodity for Arum because he knows Mexicans will Pay PPV and make the short distance from L.A. or Mexico to pay to see their guy. Korea is far far away and if a Korean fights in Vegas, it is a big risk to spend on a promotion unless like Hatton they are proven product that people will commute from Korea to Vegas or enough Koreans in the u.S. interested to buy PPVs to make money for those involved. Pacquiao has shown that Filipinos can be reached and will spend to watch their man that is why you see more Filipinos on t.v. now.
Korea needs to produce a world class elite fighter first before this can happen. IN Jin Chi was as popular a boxer they have produced in the last decades or so.
