Paddy Barnes is about 2/3 weight classes lower than this guy

Hope he hope he can outclass him and tire him out

 

Surprise! You can only fight bigger men if you can dodge every punch and hurt them when you throw back. He couldn't do either

 

Barnes was doing ok in there. The ending was shockingly sudden. Got hit right on the button of the solar plexus... he just landed a similar shot on Rosales with no effect. When it comes to punch placement Millimeters matter obviously!

 

Thought Barnes was 2nd best from start to finish in there tonight and simply the opponent is currently a level above him. This fight was taken far too early in his pro career in my opinion and a building is never the same after serious cracks are exposed.

 

Got to agree -- he was fire fighting from the start. Landing shots but no power and his opponent was happy to take them as he walked him down. He was blowing from very early on and the stoppage was a matter of time. But lets face it we would all take the chance too and at his age and after a long career he had to roll the dice

 

Paddy is a light fly at best.

 

The guy dwarfed him and Paddy has never been a big puncher. Just seemed a complete mismatch for me

 

Another Vaughan fighter battered in a title fight. Beforehand Barnes was claiming he was the strongest flyweight in the world...

 

He's listed as 5ft 4" but I think that's being very generous. Plus you can tell from looking at his physique that 8 stone is just his normal walk around weight. I remember him posting some pictures on twitter of him visiting his daughters school and some of the primary school kids were bigger than him.

On a side note, a mate of mine once said that Paddy Barnes could beat any of the England rugby players in a street fight because he's a professional boxer and they are not fighters

 

It was amateur v professional last night. I know Barnes had 8 or 9 fights in the WSB, but you had a world champion with 30 odd professional fights under his belt, the difference was night and day.

I got the opinion Rosales could have thought at that pace for 20 rounds, he has 12 rounds in him easy. I didn't for one minute think Barnes was enjoying the pace.

Then power wise, I don't think much needs to be said. Barnes was fighting well at points, but start to finish he was on the receiving end of a battering.

 

It was an even fight until the finish. It was a one punch finish, and thise finishes alwYs make viewers remember the winnert as being better than e was, and theloser as worse than he was.

Had there been 4. Completed rounds I wudda had it 2. Rounds apiece.

 

Battered ? Did you actually Watch the fight?

 

Ignore Barry Jones ridiculous commentary, he got bashed up and it was obvious by the second round that there was only going to be one outcome.

 

That Barry Jones guy certainly has an agenda before the fights start and the bias is incredible.

Fight after fight, the same old shyte comes out in favour of the home fighter.

The Sky team are just as bad.

 

I get what you're saying, and I watched the fight again this morning under more sober eyes, but my assessment didn't really change. Barnes was fighting well on the inside but was having no effect.

From round 1 I thought, oh dear this doesn't look good for Barnes. His head shots didn't budge Rosales at all, but even jabs were sending Barnes off balance.

This best analogy I can think of is Cotto v Ali. One man was clearly the better boxer, but was a pea shooter against a canon.
