Shame for Appleby. He's young enough to come back from this. Lindsay just jumped on him and was landing the better punches throughout. I don't think either man looked top class (a lot of messy work) but Lindsay at least landed combinations, whereas Appleby wasn't quick enough to get off and when he did it was single shots or 1-2s.

Looking at the stoppage, I suppose you could have given him a few more seconds but Appleby was pretty much gone. Being with Gilmour I'd imagine he'll go down the Commonwealth route now.

No chance Gilmour would pay the cash needed to get a rematch in Scotland.

Not sure what Hayemaker will do with Lindsay now, but IBF, European and Commonwealth doors are all open.

Gilmour would neverpay the money that was on offer. from what i heard the money appleby got was 3 times more than has ever been paid to a fighter for a british title fight. Dont know if its actually accurate but you cant blame anyone for taking that sort of money on offer.

Hope Paul takes time to assess the situation and realises that he is in a fabulous position career wise! Okay, he lost his last fight, and didn't look anywhere near as good as he can, has and will again. He is only 21, and has been British Champ. He lost it to a very good fighter, who was better on the night - that is all!

Most boxers are only starting out at his age, so to achieve what he has by this age is really fantastic, and definately an achievement to be proud of! It looks like he may have been overmatched too early, and perhaps would have been better having a few 'learning' tough fights before heading to Ireland to the bear pit!

With some good coaching, realising where he went wrong and hard working, Paul will be back a far more accomplished boxer! He still has the potential to go down as a Scottish great! I look forward to seeing Paul lift his 1st world title belt. The road to greatness starts now!

Pass on our regards to Paul, and tell him it isn't the end of the world please Apps1.

    Cheers

    Finz
