What I like about McCloskey is that hes a boxer but NOT a runner, therefore Barry will get opportunities to land on him. & when Barry lands, he hurts. Im well happy about this fight, cos I think although McCloskey looks to be the real deal, hes going to get tagged by Barry Morrison at one point, & then lets see what hes got. As the Jeffro said before me, the Lynes-McCloskey fight was interesting. & if you are a Morrison fan, the second round is a must see. Barry can pull this one off if hes up for it, I have no doubt.
thanks, they must keep their buisness to themselves over in ireland boxing wise, i never heard he had won that ibf international title in '07 would be here all day with a wikipedia of barry morrisons stuff he won as an amatuer etc.....
I like Paul McCloskey from the little I have seen of him. I was very impressed with the manner by which he dealt with Lynes though cannot say I was particularly surprised though. Barry Morrison as we all know is a game lad in attitude and spirit. I have a lot of time for Bazza. After this fight we will know more about McCloskey. Down the line very interesting possibilities as we may defend the world title against after we win it this year. At the moment all our attention is on Scott Haywood for the Commonwealth title defence.
My cousin "Mick Stanton" is meant to be on the undercard to this. Bad match up for McCloskey I feel though, he's beyond Morrison surely?
Is that on the basis that he beat Lynes who beat Morrison? There is a lack of suitable opponents for him I guess... though I do agree it is a bit of a backward step. Rees seems to have disappeared, Witter won't want to go back to British title level.
I actually created Barry's wikipedia page as well (seen as he is a good tim) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Morrison feel free to add to it
shouldnt an international champion get a world top 15 rating...?? {and i thought under ibf it was called inter-continental} was he ever top 15 with ibf ?
nice one, i'll get a wee background run down from baz very soon, and i'll add to that seen as your a good tim :smoke:good
Pretty much. If I remember rightly too, Barnes didnt have the toughest of nights with Morrison and McCloskey and Barnes' styles are comparable. Granted this is a style point rather than a calibre point. Good shout though BB, I suppose there is a lack of opposition in the alternative.
