if this thread was on boxrec, the arse lickers would be saying "well done to paul, he spoke his mind!"

  3. Smith could have been more gracious, Degale had him well beaten yesterday.

This is why I said Smith deserves respect for taking the fight - I couldnt believe the amount of people that thought this would be a 50-50 fight or a close fight! The bookies certainly didnt think that- and rightly so.

Smith is British level and a very tough fighter who is full of heart - most boxers would be very happy to have achieved what he has. But, Degale is world class and maybe he will look back after a while and reflect differently?

Was impressed with DeGale, but I did think he was dirty as ****.

Will need to tone it down in future.

I might sound like a noob but I have never seen anything good from Paul Smith. All he seems to do everyfight is load up on a right hand, miss it and then hold on the inside. EVERY TIME.

There is no doubt that DeGale was dirty, but the ref alone can be blamed for that. It's his job to make sure any 'naughties' are stopped but he let DeGale have a field day in there...saying that they were several leagues apart and even if the ref had taken a point off DeGale early it would have made absolutely no difference to the outcome.
I always liked Smith but this lack of class is embarrassing for him.

Also DeGale would beat Groves even more convincingly than he did Smith imo.
Groves looks like he isn't all that fit whereas DeGale looked in tremendous shape, could have boxed all night long, if Smith had been able to get near him he may have been able to slow him slightly and that is Groves only hope....however slim.

It always seems to be shoulda woulda coulda's with Paul , like ive stated many times on here , he was a world class Ama , but will not reach them heights as a pro .

I would of honestly preferred him to say something like " i was beaten by a better fighter " , because thats what happened .

the stoppage was very wrong IMO, but he was being outclassed in the fight. No need to blame it on DeGale being a "dirty fighter"

**** yeah, James Degale. I remember absolutely hating that ****ing dude until he blasted out Sam Horton on the Mitchell/Katsidis undercard. He's a ledge, no doubt.

This. Many top fighters and trainers have good stuff to say about him. I remember Pepe Correa saying that Paul would definitely be a World Champion. But I also remember someone saying (probably from the Contender as well) that Paul fights with too much anger and doesn't fight natural and smooth and I think that is his major problem.

Get him back to Middleweight and climbing the rankings but I would keep him away from fights that would get him worked up like his last three fights have.
