Agreed. To be honest it's not just Sky's boxing team that are shocking their football panel are just as bad. I mean did you hear that screeching muppet Jamie Carragher last night after Liverpool got pumped "Basle aren't a good team". FFS Basle win their domestic league almost every season and hold their own in the champions league every year and to come out with a statement like that is just pure ignorant. And then you have Gary Neville....WOW! That's Sky for you though. atsch
I can't stick the endless whinging and victim syndrome but I do think his activity won him the fight. Abraham threw so little, if Smith was the home fighter no one would have dreamed of giving the decision to Abraham.
I thought most of AA's shots were also blocked his input wasnt enough for me to deserve the win, and when he did put a 30second burst in alot were blocked by Smith, I'm not part of team Smith or a Smith fan but I think he deserved the nod.
Paul smith winged like f uck when he got stopped by james degale. He was saying he was still in the fight, could of continued blah blah.. He got f ucking mullered and that's all there is to be said really. It was after that fight when he ran away from the boxrec forum because he couldn't handle all the stick he'd get after giving it the biggun before hand! Poor old jug ears, always the victim.
Disagree, he didn't lose 'fair and square'. As far as I'm concerned, either one could have got the nod 2 rounds either way.. it was a closely contested fight. He lost by absolutely farcical score cards, they were a joke.
I meant at the time. Sky were awful Saturday, Watt was a complete joke and Halling at the end of the fight saying something along the lines of "We are sometimes accused of being bias but this time we have a right to be..." Well after Beltran beat Burns and was given a draw Sky kept repeating "Burn's was fortunate..." where was the outrage? where was the disgust? and they also tried to make the case for Burn's getting a draw. I see it like this, Do not cry and whine about bad decisions or scorecards unless you are going to do it after every bad decision or scorecard regadless of fighter, promoter and country. If you are selective about what fighters deserve the benefit of the doubt you leave yourself wide open to criticism.
Spot on. I saw an interview after the Abraham fight where he called people 'knobheads' for predicting he would get knocked out. Looking at records and past opponents, it was quite logical to think that would be the likely outcome. Fair play to him he fought out of his skin and it didn't happen but it's the 'pick against me and you're a ****' attitude that ****s me off.
Whether he deserved a shot or not doesn't matter... the fight was made and he made a VERY good account of himself. It was a close fight, but the judging was an absolute disgrace. Therefore, due to the fight being close, competitive, getting people talking and most of all turning into a farce with the scorecards... Smith & Matchroom should press for a rematch.
Finally someone talking sense. There isn't one person on here who has posted on this who knows the types of sacrifices these boxers have to go through in a training camp for a fight like this, he did the work got his tactics right and had a very very close fight with a good champion. Ok, many think he got beat but those cards were a disgrace, should he have just sat back and took it said 'that's life'? **** that, he's a fighter who wants his efforts recognized and whether you think he deserved a shot or not he gave a very good account of himself.
It was a close fight, poor cards but Abraham was the right winner. Does anybody really want to see a rematch?
