Even his mando turned him down, Jennings.

Any man who weighed in at 145 in his first attempt for his last fight at 147 has my confidence if he says he can still make the weight. And he preformed well also.

As some one else said we don't know. To say he can or can't is just an assumption.

    Paying dues????

Why is it now a question of "paying dues" when it comes to Paul Williams?

If he has a belt, and would be considered one of the best in his division (Beat margarito when no one else would try) and avanged his only loss, why would he not deserve a shot at the belt? Until fans stop buying into these excuses, the bigname prima donnas will continue this behavior.

How did Shane, Cotto, Margarito, and Zab end up fighting each other (except Zab and Marg) and Paul Wiliams get left out of the equation? If we are talking about the best fighting the best, then he should have gotten in that mix somewhere.

I've always taken NBA's word on this, but according to him they were negotiating with Martinez at 160 for the rematch even though Martinez has a belt at 154 and there was adequate time for this fight for both guys to make weight. Then he says Cintron is to be at 154 and we find that Cintron offered to go to 147. WTF is going on?

Honeslty I think it's paying dues b/c his career at WW was a situation where he did well, but after beating Marg felt entitled to the big fights. Paul I think is a threat....but his name isn't big enough to warrant any of the bigger names to take that risk. Not that they couldn't beat Paul or that Paul couldn't beat them...it's just he's holding NO cards at the moment. If he had of stuck at WW...faught the mandatories...paid his "DUES" he'd be a NAMED fighter where one of the top guys by now would have faced him.

Shane, Cotto, Zab and Marg all have or had the NAME at WW so they were all fighting one anther. Paul was left out b/c he didn't bring that kind of attention to the division. Hardcore fans knew his name and his abilities but to try and promote a fight with PW vs COtto vs Cotto vs Judah it was really a no brianer from a financial standpoint.

All of the names at the time were the BEST...Paul was considered the best but again he wasn't a very popular fighter. He kind of got shut out....but that still doesn't mean he couldn't have stayed at WW and kept winning and ultimately build his name so that they couldn't avoid him any longer.

I have no idea. and after Quintana exposed Williams a bit I don't see what the WW's were afraid of. As a PBF fan I use to listen to how everyone would say PW has all the tools to beat PBF. I watched the Mathyesse fight and listening to them made me take notice. I then watched him fight margo and while he out worked Margo and won it was a sloppy performance imo. Paul was falling all over himself while throwing punches. I knew then PBF would not have a problem with him, I think I even made a thread about it. PW doesn't measure distance well at all. And bc of it his balance is ****.

All this talk of WW fights he needs to "Just do it" Lance has a point. Have Goosen write a letter to which ever board and get a ranking. i think he should go after the WBC belt.

I agree, Until I see proof that Williams can make 147, I am not buying it that he is going to be able to make weight for a fight against Mayweather or Mosley or any other Welterweight for that matter.

After watching the Martinez/Williams fight a couple of times, little doubt in my mind that Floyd picks his bones clean. He hasn't changed. People complain about Jack Loew? What kind of advice is "You gotta man up on dem punches" when your fighter is bending over at the waist, throwing wide looping shots while lunging/falling in and getting countered with hard clean punches?

 I don't know for sure. Maybe he means he needs to sit down on his punches a lil more.

The same Margarito that asked for an immediate rematch and PW said hell no after he took his belt??

PW only wanted a MArgarito rematch after Margarito became the man. PW only chases big fights but he doesnt want to work for them in the ring. If he stopped talking and just started fighting that would suit him better.

He's not a welter when he's not fighting at that weight. Otherwise if he can make the weight then it's all fair game. There's no rule that says you have to stick to one division. Some fighters are more versatile than others. They should be credited, not criticized.

Not even sure the second offer was serious. He had just screwed Arum over on the Pavlik fight and knew Arum wasn't talking to him about Pdub for anything if I remember the timing of that.

Then the next rated fighter comes to bat. Fight for the WBO, take the baggage that comes with it.

Exactly what I am saying. Paul was 2-1 vs. Ring ranked WW's when he started calling out everyone and their momma.
