Paul Williams planning 2/3 fights before he retires?

surprised he hasn't started in with pac/floyd cal-outs then, for that big cash out payday

 

terry norris is also the one who retired SRL. williams is not terry norris and todays era of boxing should never ever be compared to the 80's and early 90's.

mugabi would have ****ed up any of the 154's today or of yesterday. come to think of it, duran at 154(post hearns KO) would even dominate the division. we will never see that 80's era again.
boxing is **** right now.

hes still very young. quite possibly, its something else. he may even be getting hurt in sparring. you never know. his trainer says he's done in two fights. thats very odd. its never good when a fighter starts talking about retirement. it generally means that they know their time is up.

 

He needs to stick around. He should push for a fight with Cintron. That fight was fun while it lasted, until Cintron dumbass fell out of the ring and didn't attempt to grab on to nothing(and I thought Cintron was doing good).

And change trainers now. Steward would work miracles on this freak of nature. 6'1 and able to get down to 147. Is that even healthy?

 

Williams Chin has been shattered and he knows it. He has a Glass Jaw and he is going to get ZERO respect from future opponents they are going to go right at him.

I hate to say I told you all, but.....well, wait a minute, actually I'll enjoy it thoroughly this time. :!:

I had a gut feeling that Paul and his team knew there was more mileage on him than they were letting on and what fans' realized. It's not just the Martinez knockout- it's the first Martinez war, going 12 with Margarito, and in general just taking punishment even when he kicks the other guys' ass.

I'm actually glad they notice it enough not to let him go on too long. I hope he gives us 3 killer fights, gets himself paid, and, if he's still taking punishment at the same rate, hangs them up.

 

He comes back gets some wins and the buzz starts back up about him again...i gurantee this changes!

 

Once he starts winning again, he wont think about retiring for a long time.

Martinez, chavez jr, alvarez, cotto, cintron, ortiz, bundrage, angulo, floyd, pac.

Too many big fights out there and provided he doesn't look shot in his next fight he'd be a favourite over atleast half of them names.

 

His style and physical gifts are not for a long career. He got punishment in the Margarito win, the Quintana loss, the controversial Martinez win, the debatable Cintron win and of course he got brutally KO'd in the Maravilla rematch, I won't be surprised to see him affected by it come Saturday night.

He never was able to maximize the potential in those long hands, in fact these extremely lean guys usually have coordinational issues becoming a complete fighter impossible, and unless he can come up with solid defense and control his fights from distance like Wlad Klitschko, he's gonna take further punishment even in winning.

I think he already fought up to his potential and produced some great wins, got some fantastic P4P ranings and earned a good Dollar or two, but he's no Bernard Hopkins and with age it'll be only harder. Beat Lara, pick up a LMW and maybe unify, I can see that, but realistically there isn't many years left in him unless there's a major change in his game and maybe it's already too late, that KO way very brutal.

But I wish all the best for him, he's a good kid and good for the sport.

 

Maybe a good win will make him think otherwise.
