Pavlik is pushing it slightly at 160, but he's only and inch taller than Williams(don't believe the lies, this man is every bit of 6 '2). Cotto is only 5 '7, but he did stay at 140 a few fights too long, Gatti is a club fighter with some power, he had to have the physical advantage over his opponent.

What is your obsession with shitting on Paul Williams..hes the most respectful...humble...fearless bvoxer in the division.

Why the hate for the guy???

He lost a tough hard fight...AND???

And btw he and Hearns fight nothing alike...Apples and Oranges..and thats not a knock on Paul.

Only complete idiots thought Williams was the next Hearns. Think about it. How many times have you heard anyone describe Williams and actually mention his BOXING ABILITY. All you heard was "he's tall... he's got a great reach...he's a southpaw...his workrate...". Hardly was his actual boxing skills mentioned.

The only thing similar is their body frame. Hearns had unbeilvable boxing skills. Great jab, outstanding right hand, boxer/puncher who adapt to whatever opponent he was facing. If Hearns would have only had a better chin he might have been a top 5 p4p fighter of all-time. No bull****.

I think this fight proved that Williams is no Hearns, nowhere near the caliber of Hearns.

Can you imagine what a young Hitman would have done to Quintana? Or Williams for that matter...

Williams has the tools to become a very good fighter. He's got length, a chin, and stamina. If he can develop a fraction of Tommy's accuracy, power, and athleticism, all areas where Williams doesn't seem nearly as naturally gifted, he will be a champion again. With the right people around him, all of this can be worked on.

What we will find out in the next couple of years is if he has the focus and will to improve. Tonight didn't look good. Now we see what he's made of.

Paul wasn't all there tonight. I don't know if he was sick, but supposedly he had the flu. He is way too skinny for WW, though. I'd like to see what he does as a higher weight.
