I think Cotto would KO Williams with a body shot. The height advantage would
give Cotto problems but Williams doesn't bring the toughness, pressure or power that Margarito does. I think Cotto would try to keep the fight on the inside and pound William's lanky body. Everybody is writting Cotto off now like he's Amir Khan or someting. He fought a great fight against Margarto and IMO, Margarito is the only guy at 147 that can beat Cotto. Not because he's a better fighter but because he's so f'n tough....he can take more punishment than almost any fighter I've ever seen. The amount of clean shots AM got hit with in that fight would've KO'd Williams or any other fighter at 147 right now.

cotto even though he didnt show it in margo fight is a great body puncher have to think paul body couldnt take much of it and he is actually a more skilled boxer than paul who normally outworks his opponent with sheer volume

It would be a very close fight. I don't know who to pick.

Cotto is a boxer-puncher. He brawls when he needs to, and he boxes when he needs to. He has learned how to box, because some years ago he was more a brawler.

    so hes a boxer?

    65% brawl
    35% box

    in my eyes

    well stated

although i think pw can pull it off.. it has nothing to do with the fact that he "lost" but how he lost...
its my opinion.. i stated clearly why i feel the way i do...

state yours instead of being a child

Paul Williams would beat Cotto as he is way too big for him! I think that he would be way too awkward for Cotto.

i think Cotto would outbox Paul, but if Paul's the special fighter I think he is then he can adjust from boxing to just straight stalking Cotto and going for the KO (which I firmly think he's capable of). Against Margarito and Quintana he boxed, it was enough against Tony as Paul is a tough kid and he's the better boxer and can match workrate.
Against Quintana he got outboxed, off night or not there's no excuse, as he came into the second fight sitting down on his punches looking for the KO... well imo the kid can bang when he's the one moving forward. I think this showed that either he or his trainer can force a change in stlye. Based on that I think he's tough enough to take whatever Cotto throws over 12 rounds and would stop him getting inside to the body with his size (ala Margarito), from there he can choose to box early, if it's not working then stalk him and KO him. I'd say 9-12 rounds Cotto is stopped.

If however Williams boxes, then for me Cotto is the superior boxer and takes a comfortable UD... but I do think him or his corner are smart enough to make adjustments.

i really believe pw would tatoo cotto's face with his awkward slingshot punches... his hands are DECEIVINGLY fast enough and come from awkward enough angles that it would really bother cotto

Ive seen paul william take massive amounts of damage.. over a fight and by one single punch and him deal with it

i havent seen cotto take massive damage been able to deal with 1 single properly placed punch well or deal with damage over a 12 round fight well

Williams would make Cotto quit just like Margarito did.

    hahaha sorry for its un-clarity

ive seen several situations over 12 rounds or from one punch
where cotto has been in danger
in pauls career i have no seen one scenario through 12 rounds or from one punch
where he was CLEARLY AND DEFINITELY in danger

Williams and Cotto should fight in early 2009.
