Man, if this fight happens in Ohio (Pavlik's hometown, my future hometown) I'm going!

It would be bombs-away, I'd lean toward Pavlik, the champion, because I like his technique a little bit better, but with two punchers, it would be competitive no doubt.:good

That turtle shell defence won't go well against Pavlik. His high workrate, longer reach will be very hard IMO for AA to counter. Pavlik unlike Miranda keeps you on the end of his punches, and hits through the target as seen vs Lockett. Lockett was really getting rocked even through the gloves.

AA could potentially land a bomb and KO Pavlik. But i have trouble seeing him winning this one on points. He is too inactive to beat Pavlik in a boxing match. In a war, Pavliks long hard punches will be very effective at hurting AA, even through the gloves. AA best chance is to lure Pav in, and catch him napping.

Overall, i would still favour Pavlik in this one, regardless of the punching power of AA. Very interested to see this fight.

    Hard one to choose.

My brain tells me Pavlik's workrate would be too high.

Though Pavlik isn't hard to hit and AA hits like a freight train. Lesser boxers have dropped him before.

Pavlik isn't that hard to hit so his chin will definitely be tested in this one, as will AA's.

I'll be backing Abraham in this one, so even though its a bloody tough choice, ill say AA so im not sitting on the fence, in an absolute pearler of a fight.

    Save the emoticans.

They don't add to the argument.

Mike Tyson got KO'd by McBride, Holy and Douglas.

He's a bigger hitter than all three.

Foreman got KO'd by Ali. George was the bigger hitter.

Miranda is as big if not bigger hitter than Pavlik.

The fact that he got KTFO by Kelly doesn't alter that, but rather, stems from him having little boxing skills and a poor defence.

Pavlik's style and shaky chin is suited to a counter punching, very solid chinned, one shot KO fighter.

This would be an extremely dangerous fight for Pavlik. I think it's 50/50, but if there's a KO, it'll most likely be from Abraham. Pavlik could outwork him to a decision win (and I could see him stopping Abraham late too), but he is bound to get caught with something big here. His chin won't be able to handle a flush full power shot from Abraham. He will get hurt, but he might be able to come back, even if it means getting up from a few KD's. Pavlik really needs to practice clinching before this fight, because he'll be screwed if he doesn't clinch against Abraham after getting caught. He needs to fight a very disciplined fight and I don't know if he's capable of it. I'm pulling for Pavlik to win though.

They both match up well to each other stylistically, and it will make for an awesome fight IMO. Pav's work rate, long straight punches and punching power are great against a turtle shell defence.

Pav's leaky D at times, and very active offense will create many opportunities for AA also.

I think it is a very close fight at this point as well, and have no doubt Pavlik will get hurt at some stage. I think his chin is good enough to allow him to survive though, and that he will be more cautious defensively against Abraham.

I picked Pav on stoppage, thinking he breaks AA down for a late TKO.

While I think a UD is well within Kelly's capabilities, I believe if he gets KD'd, the fight is as good as over. Abraham hits much harder and finishes much better than Jermain. And you remember how that almost turned out.

It depends how badly he gets hurt though.

Pavlik took A LOT of unanswered punches in the first KD vs Taylor. I am guessing it would be more of a one punch affair vs AA, which could potentially give him more time to recover.

Probably the worst thing he can do, is just stand there if stunned. If he cops a barrage like he did vs Taylor the fight is as good as over.

Miranda fought a stupid fight against Abraham and payed the price. You could see Abraham's lunging hooks coming from a mile away and Miranda still got caught. Abraham is gonna have trouble hitting Pavlik with those same shots without missing and getting countered. I still think that Abraham doesn't beat Pavlik with his low work rate, backing up to the ropes, looping punches and hoping to catch Pavlik asleep.

Yeah, I agree. This should be a great fight and it must get made. I keep imagining a Taylor-Pavlik X 2 type of classic fight, where Pavlik survives multiple knockdowns, but ultimately wins in a very dramatic fight. After Saturday's fight, my immediate reaction was that Abraham-Pavlik could go the same exact way though.

My opinion of Pavlik isn't very high, but I think he learned from that situation and he won't do anything THAT dumb again. But yeah, he will always have leaky defense and be open to a fighter like Abraham, who finishes fighters much, much better than Taylor.

I'll message you with the most recent scores.. don't want to put them all in this unrelated thread.
