My best guess is he never gets back to the fighter he was when he defeated Taylor. The guy seems to be a head case. I really like the guy too, but he has a lot to do to get back into the mix now, that last stunt of pulling out of a hometown fight was really a bad decision, lost a lot of respect and a big payday in November, and now he wants to fight for 10k? I hope he's serious, but certainly everyone has the right to be skeptical.
Me thinks basically he thought he was worth more, during his stay at Disneyworld some one spelled out for him.... I honestly think though Top Tank is gonna punish him, financially or with some crappy bouts before he gets anything decent. Bob Arum is very vindictive and alot of people lost alot of money with the little stunt he pulled pulling out of the Covelli Center fight he already had lined up on top of that the Bute one as well.
I don't know if your talking to me but I am not Boo. I think Pavlik will apologize to his fans also. People his fans incuded have to realize that anyone can make mistakes. What matters is how you come back from your mistakes. I for one would not be surprised if Pavlik comes back stronger then ever.
this +1 He is known in the boxing communities/fans, but "casual" boxing fans never heard of him He was probably in Disneyworld in Orlando (where every one from all over the country and around the world come) and he was sad nobody recognized him or knew who he was.
Exsactly, none of us can imagine what it would be like to be famous as Pavlik is in any city anywhere. It might start to effect your perception of things if you can't pass someone in the street without getting asked for an autograph. And your in the news all the time and parades and other big events. I would not be surprised if his little time out in Disneyworld was a real eye opener to Pavlik.
"I will fight for 10K :rofl:rofl", fight for free you little ****. WTF are you doing with those 10 grands.
So much potential wasted. He was only 24/25 when he beat Taylor twice. If he had pushed on from there, not had his drink issues, who knows where he'd be now.
Pavlik has disappointed a lot of fans and himself. If he is serious, he needs to prove it. Start seriously training, start fighting on a regular basis (every other month), and work his way into upper echelon fights. Right now he is in no position to challenge Froch, Bute, Kessler, Abraham, SOG, Dirrell, Martinez, and many others. Who would be comfortable in promoting a high level fight with Pavlik?
He's facing an uphill battle as he's pissed off the major networks, his trainer, promoter, and of course the fans. Let's also not forget that he's an alcholic, and would be an underdog against many of the top fighters in his division. If he's really committed though, it will show and people will want to see him fight again.
crazier things have happened. i personally saw josh hamilton when he was a 180lb crack head and hadnt picked up a bat in over two years. hamilton was eventually found in a crack den in miami by his agent and dragged back to rehab. now he's a 230lb mvp. it can happen. will kelly do it is another story altogether. i've heard this kind of talk before so i'm not going to believe anything until i see it. admitting he ****ed up is a positive step. lets see where this goes.
