Could Pavlik beat some of the fat-ass imposters at HW these days? Possibly, with the right preparation and nutrition/muscle building program. Could he stand up to a top 10 HW. I'd wager the house, no- or at least wager your house, no. He is not RJJ. Never will be.
Haha. This is getting ridiculous. I can't imagine people are actually seriously considering him as a valid contender at Heavyweight. I know the HW division sucks but trust me even someone like monte barrett would seriously **** pavlik's **** up. I don't even see Pavlik ever dominating light heavy, let alone cruiser or heavyweight.
He's fought at super middleweight before and looked really good, so I don't see why he couldn't easily fight at light heavy.
Similar build to James Toney when James was a MW, and Pavlik has mentioned he'd like to end up at HW someday, so I'm guessing yes.
when roy and toney were young middleweights what would you have said if this same question was asked about them at that point in their careers?
FWIW, I doubt he has the frame to get up to 220. I could see him ending his career at cruiserweight, but his bones are just too skinny to put on much more muscle than that without being completely sapped of his mobility.
This is going a bit far now, Pavlik will not make it to HW, as he simply does not have the fight style to do it, while he is also too thin and I can't see him carrying the weight well. I doubt he will go higher than LHW as when he gets there I think his power will not carry its destructive power that it has at MW. Don't get me wrong I still think he will be able to unload, it just won't be as deverstating.
Pavlik would get his ass kicked at HW, and cruiserweight and probably LHW as well (right now). I love Kelly, but he's just not that big-boned. Think about what it would look like if a guy like Ding hit Kelly square on the jaw. Let's be honest -- Taylor hurt Pavlik. At 160. Guys like Ding or even people like Diaconu might just wreck him. People better not sleep on B-Hop, especially Pavlik. If Pavlik makes a stupid mistake like he did in the first Taylor fight, Hopkins will drop him. Ask Calz and Tarver. Eventually KP may fill out to be a solid LHW. But unless he does tons of weight work and is near the end of his career, cruiserweight isn't happening. And HW is a fantasy.
How many 245-270lbs fighters are in the top10? Ali was 210-220 and did just fine. I don't think he'd make much noise at heavyweight, though.
