If this fight occurs. It will spell the end for Pavlik as a top fighter. Bute will beat him up pretty bad. It won't be nice to see, I'd love for Pavlik to knock him out but I just can't see it happening.

This is a bad idea, and I totally disagree with the theory that everything will be okay as long as KP is competitive. Kelly Pavlik has always been a target for an extraordinary amount of irrational hatred. Just consider people's reaction to the Martinez fight. I've watched that fight no fewer than 10 times, and any scorecard wider than 115-112 should be thrown on the dung heap. And yet, fans and journalists alike act like it was the most one-sided fight in middleweight history. Kelly simply cannot afford a loss at this point in his career.

Sitting on the sidelines until November, and then tangling with Bute, is very likely to result in a loss. I would not expect KP to get knocked out, nor would I expect a whitewash, but I would not expect a win either.

On the other hand, there is little doubt in my mind that Pavlik at his absolute best would use his 3-2, his 1-1-2, his lead right, and a variety of body shots to beat seven shades of **** out of Bute. However, it is foolish to expect KP to follow Arum's plan, and be at his best in November. Going from Lopez to Bute is a whole hell of a lot like going from Espino to Martinez, and it's a really bad idea!

I don't see why he can't get in another tune up between now and November. Tbh, it probably won't help him much. There's no way the Pavlik of 2007 is coming back. I'd have favoured that Pavlik to KO Bute but he's done now.

In order for a boxing fan to make such a bold statement about any 29 year old fighter being "done," that fan would have to be completely ignorant of boxing history.

Pavlik would have fought once in 18 months if he waits that long.

Pav does need a tune-up, he looked extremely rusty and not to mention, should be fighting at middleweight where he belongs.

Er, nope. Just gotta work on the evidence provided. Kelly Pavlik has been a **** head for a while now, and hasn't looked like he can pull the trigger for quite some time. He's an old 29 year old, due to him not taking care of his body.

If this happens I'll take Pavlik to stop Bute...I know how **** Kelly looked and I know his trainer is a complete no talent ass clown, but I just think Pavlik would **** this dude up.

Don't fall into the trap that posters on this board represent anything other than the posters on this board. They claim to be fight fans yet they are always claiming they will boycott this fight or that fight and the PPV price is ridiculous so they will be looking for a stream. Arum knows the business end quite well. You think he gives a rats ass what goes on with posts to boards like this? Nope. They are meaningless.

You could see this fight gaining traction and Kessler-Bute slipping away lately. Pavlik needs to take another fight this summer, he looked rusty his last time out but I doubt he takes one and going straight to Bute is a bad idea. At their best I'd take Pavlik to ko Bute but I doubt the version of Pavlik that shows up will be at his best. Pavlik is a big name and 168 is deep he doesn't need to rush into this, not sure why he is.

I'd need to see something I haven't seen from Kelly for quite sometime to make me confident about this one.

Yeah, Pavlik from his last fight gets beaten by Bute. Thats why it seems like a smart move to get atleast one more fight in before a fight like this. Either Pavlik feels more confident in his chances than most of us do or he's just not into it anymore and looking to cash out.

Bob Arum prefers the fight to be in Montreal. What should Bute's team do? Hold out for some foreign place and less money?
That's how they negotiate in bizzaro-world.

Most fighters are more than willing to go where the money is as long as they get a square deal. In a Bute fight the money is in Montreal. Interbox knows they have to give KP a square deal. They seem to be a lot smarter than Goosen or Sauerland.

    Bute would destroy Pavlik!
