I'm not sure that article is accurate though. It also says that Pavlik held the WBA middleweight title and that he still holds a belt at 154.
he dehydrated and **** his guts out to make 160, but was 175 (?) on fight night, so now being 190 isn't a big deal... he should fight at 168 but he'll get murdered.. just my opinion.
and who's fault is that? pavlik is trying to fight at 160 so he has a size advantage over his opponents, and i'll be glad that if it works against him. the ******* should move up a couple of divisions and fight people his own size. of course he'll get beat up because he's not that good.
Most of it is probably water weight, which will dissipate soon enough, rebound effect of depleting your body.
If Pavlik move up to 168 pounds and face those top fighters, he will get ko, shutout or just get beat up. I dare Pavlik to try and go after Bute cause i bet if that happens Bute will destroyed Pavlik.
Pavlik drains himself to make 160 so he can be the biggest & strongest guy, to make up for his lack of speed and skills. At 168 he's just another cat who won't make the top 10.
That's pretty much the plan, but right now Steiglitz would probably outwork Pavlik. I said it before, Kelly was winning the middle rounds against Martinez and just ran out of gas. He showed no offense for rounds 9 -12. He needs to get away from Youngstown, too many vices and drama. Drop Lowe and get a fresh perspective on training. How many trainers out there goto the bar with their fighter? He's not a young MW anymore and his body's not letting him get away with old habits. It looks like the Hopkins loss, the bad luck throughout '09, and now the Martinez loss are taking a mental toll on him. If he's going to salvage his career, he needs to make those changes.
