Your boyfriend's washed up. He looks like those old 60+ unemployed bums I see staggering around my local pub.

Pavlik is now nothing more than a name to beat.

    1) Pretty much everyone who follows boxing knows Pavlik is washed up.

    2) Booradly are you SERIOUSLY telling the whole of ESB that 'doubling the jab' would have beaten Bernard Hopkins while also claiming you 'know boxing?' ROFL mate.....seriously...

Right, you say that he did nothing Loew told him to do, but the only advice I can remember Jack giving him in the Hopkins fight was 'double up the jab', ****ing great tactics that .

And do you honestly not think he would benefit from getting a change of scenery?

Pavlik did have the ability to beat Martinez. Maybe he can make a good comeback and get a fight with Bute.

Be that as it may, what was your take on that article on the front page of ESB a couple of weeks ago: "The re-building of Kelly Pavlik"? Personally, I have a lot of admiration for KP.

Some classy comments on this thread

Good to see Pavlik back in the mix, though personally I think he may be coming back too soon, he'll be putting himself under alot of pressure.

But then again, the longer you're out of the ring, the harder it is to get back to it.

I liked Kelly when he was up and coming. The Taylor fights were great contests and those two were excellent fighters. Its kind of a shame whats happened to both of them. Kelly staying with that local 'double the jab' trainer just shows to me he isn't really serious about improving or changing, which his losses have shown he has to do.

if he is feeling good at 190, then he has no business going back down to 160. i'm glad he's not. haha but damn there are some childish ass haters on this board these days. anyone who doesnt want to see kelly back in the ring with his head on straight is a blind hater...and anyone who makes some childish ass 4th grade comment about alcohol is pretty damn pathetic.

also, anyone who says he can't get back to form must not really want him too. i say this b/c there is a walking example of it right now in baseball. josh hamilton was a #1 draft pick by the rays and spent 3 years in a crack den dropping all the way down to 180lbs and didnt see live pitching the entire time. very long and sad story short, he found god, got right and is now the AL MVP. he was much worse off than kelly and made it back. kelly can make it back. whether he will is up to him but he can do it.

ALL world class fighters struggle to get down to their fighting weight, its a big part of the sport to be as big for your weightclass as you can. With Kellys style he's a much more effective fighter with a height and reach advantage (well, who isn't...)...fighting guys his own height and taller who are also fast and can move isnt a good idea.

the reason i say this is b/c he came into the martinez camp at a little over 190 and killed himself getting down to 160. he was training 3 times a day, eating cabbage soup for a week and was boiling in a sauna right before the weigh in. i just don't think he'll be healthy at 160.
