I like everything about Abraham besides his class-lacking brother, Alexander Abraham. Nevertheless, Miranda was beating Abraham until Abraham hurt him at the end of the 3rd. Abraham has a major flaw, which can be exposed: he takes a lot of time off during rounds while he sits on the ropes. Pavlik will fight Emmanual Stewart style - using the jab and keeping Abraham at bay. Abraham won't want to risk fighting Pavlik straight up because he's seen what happens when you do that. Pavlik will add up enough rounds to decision Abraham. Then he'll step out of the ring and use his overhand right to smack Alexander Abraham back to Yerevan.

Also, Pavlik has a big-time chin. He took Taylor's best shots and unlike Abraham's supurb defense, which absorbed a lot of Miranda's punches, Pavlik walked through Miranda's big shots. Abraham won't be able to play possum with Pavlik. Pavlik has longer arms and a better jab.

Lastly, in terms of height and reach, Abraham is custom-made for Pavlik. He is 5'9/5'10 and lacks a long reach. Pavlik has more trouble with taller guys with long reaches.

 

Disappointed that Pav. did not give AA more respect. This is going to be a Hell of a fight. Pav. needs to box, box, and more box. If he gets careless I think he will get KTFO. Abraham's got serious 1 punch explosive power, kind of like Tyson did. AA's workrate is probably his biggest weakness, especially when fighting a machine like Pav.

 

Instead of being disrespectfull, can't we just enjoy the fact that this is going to be a very good fight? We can play the comparison game without being childish about it no?

Okay -- my bad. I should have double checked, but that just means you're wrong about two fights rather than one. Styles make fights, and there is only one guy at 160-68 that has the style to make me nervous, and that's Kessler. Joe and Arthur both get knocked out

Abraham is a PROTOTYPICAL SLUGGER. He is NOT a BOXER.

REPEAT, HE IS NOT A BOXER.

 

Abraham's countering abilities consist of getting pummled by punches for 2 and a half minutes, and then throwing haymakers at his winded opponents.

Wait until Abraham faces a guy like Calzaghe or Kessler or even Andre Ward when he moves up. You'll see them put on a boxing clinic, and even if he does manage a knockdown, it won't be enough to win the fight, so he better hope he can finish them off.

Pavlik can outbox Abraham as well, it doesn't take a magnificent boxer, but it does take patience and modesty.

 

Taylor managed to hit Pavlik when Pavlik opened up. This was due to Taylor's superior boxing ability, handspeed, reach, and his overall size and height.

Abraham has none of these advantages. Pavlik keeps his guard up when he's not boxing and Abraham doesn't have the boxing ability to get to Pavlik unless Pavlik is throwing punches himself.

Pavlik decides the outcome of this fight. If he goes in sloppy and tries to KO Abraham, then Abraham will likely land one of those wide haymakers and knock him out.

If Pavlik boxes, Pavlik UD or late TKO or KO.

Watch his last fight with Arlock Sigorsogivick from Ajeckbanistan. Abraham put on a boxing clinic.

 

And Abraham is not one-dimensional.

Abraham is DEFINITELY gonna do the SAME DAMN THING. Pavlik can either box or fight.

Abraham is gonna sit there and get punched until his opponent gets tired and then throw wild haymakers. It's VERY PREDICTABLE.

And if Pavlik boxes, Abraham will eventually get desperate, charge Pavlik, leave himself open, and probably get beat up.

You're right though. I don't think anyone can outslug the guy, and to go right at him is murder.

You have to outbox Abraham.

 

kelly is the better all around fighter, moves better applies intelligent pressure, i think he knock abraham out in 9 good action rounds.

 

Ya know Cap, one of the things that irritates me on this is that people keep acting as if Abraham is this bad ass KO artist, and that there is just no way Pavlik can take him out. The truth is that Pav has a higher KO percentage AND a better resume. In other words, out of the two, Pavlik has stopped better opposition more often.
