I don't even know if I would watch this if it were free. Actually, of course not. I've got better things to do on a Saturday night than watch Kelly Pavlik duck Paul Williams. Sleeping, etc

Bob can afford to be generous after getting the entire promoter's cut of Pac-Cotto. This is his way of giving back for the holidays.

That wasn't a network PPV though was it? Those sort of fights are PPV because thats the only way to get a camera in the room.

The Pavlik fight will be HBO PPV, right?

Gee -- do ya think there might be at least an outside chance that he just needed a little more time to let the left hand heal up:patsch

The WBC and WBO threatened to strip Pavlik, so Arum found a guy KP can beat with one good hand. It's that ****ing simple, and trying to act like it's not is moronic. Anyone who followed the ****ing story knows the truth. Don't call yourself a boxing fan if you don't actually read the news!

Does it create good will for Pavlik to charge the public $40 for a tuneup fight?

It's a Latin Fury card, and it it'll pay the fighters better than ESPN or Verses.

If he had two good hands, it'd be $49.95 on HBO, and we'd get to see KP give Williams a career altering beating. Now Williams and Peterson say PW will return to 147 after Martinez.

Guys, you have to understand the economics of boxing before you start to criticize Bob Arum and his decision to make this fight available on pay-per-view.

The only reason why this is even on PPV is for the many fans of Kelly Pavlik. If you're not a fan of his then don't buy it. This is the only way his fans will get to see this fight because none of the networks are interested in showing it.

Also, I think this decision to fight Espino is suspect, but Kelly has never shown an unwillingness to fight anyone in the past. We should give him the benefit of the doubt here. Maybe Arum simply wanted a tune up before fighting a live guy like Paul Williams and after having the kind of health problems he's had between fights.
