Does this fight make sense ?

After Froch deafeated Bute, Pavlik came out and said he wants to face Froch because he can beat him.

Both guys are not necessarily great boxers but both are solid punchers and like to brawl.

I think it could turn into a war.

Pavlik could go Britain where Froch will get large crowds, or he can have a fight in Vegas to gain more of US crowd.

It makes no sense for Froch right now. Why fight Pavlik who is coming off inactivity and is on the can circuit at the moment. HBO and Showtime have to be weary of Pavlik until he shows he's serious about fighting again. That being said I would like to see the fight at sometime, but there is much more lucrative fights to be made for Froch at the moment. A rematch with Kessler for instance.

We were talking about this not long ago.
Right now Froch would be far too strong for Pavlik, and I said that long before Saturday.

Froch destroys this one dimensional american-level plodder with embarrassing ease.

The drunken hick disgrace should stick to beating up waitresses who serve him short measures of jim beam.

Pavlik would've knocked him out a couple years back, but after the drinking problems, I'm not so sure anymore

Put him up against Bute with the winner facing Froch.

Forch would stop him, Pavlik needs to go back to middleweight where he had height and reach advantages over people

Was Pavlik sober when he said this?

Same answer to this as to the suggestion of Froch fighting Dirrell next. Let them beat someone halfway decent and then maybe they get a shot at the IBF champ.

Pavlik or Dirrell should be fighting each other. Or getting their asses to Montreal and proving something against Bute.

Would be a great scrap, but only way it will happen is if Pavlik beats Bute or Adonis Stevenson in an IBF eliminator. The IBF are the strictest body in terms of mandatories, so he'd definitely get his shot those ways. Apart from becoming mandatory there are much better opportunities right now for Froch, notably Kessler.

He lost to two great fighters, he went in a rehab clinic, he fought cab-drivers and semi-decent fighters, he ducked Bute, ... lot of things actually.

I don't think I'd have ever picked Pavlik over froch. Certainly wouldn't pick him over ward or kessler, I think he could beat AA or Steiglitz though and would have a chance of KO'ing dirrell although I'd expect dirrell to outbox him pretty easily too- but I thought jermaine taylor would easily outbox Pavilk so who knows. Would be a good fight for sure.
