I myself was unimpressed with Kessler as well, he had many open opportunities to counter punch Calzaghes wild punches/slaps, but instead froze up and didnt pull the trigger. Kesslers good, but he was unable to show that on the big stage when it really mattered.

kessler wrecks weak chinned pavlik. kelly's lack of defence and chin will be horribly exposed at 168 by lesser fighters, never mind kessler. :deal
Well it does, because you were talking about how Kessler seemed to mentally disintegrate in the fight, when some of what Pavlik did wasn't too clever They are two different levels. Let's not beat around the bush, Joe is in a different league to Taylor and both fighters showed flaws. Joe adapted and once he did, Kessler had no answer, that much I agree
I'm gonna sound like a right sack surfer now but most people end up looking bad against Calzaghe. It's not that Kessler is bad, he's a great fighter, but the opposition he was facing was on a different level.
Joe is great mate but lets not swing from his nutsack...Many Joe fans like to hype his castaways and in doing so sometimes abandon logic..being realistic Joe has his flaws....Pavlik has done stupid ****...it's more of moments of stupidity but as we all know he was floored for his ignorance and I imagine it as being a learning experience.....Kesslers mental breakdown could'nt be more different...Just look at Kessler and Lacy during their fights....they epitomise the word "bewildered" and like I've said I hope this is not the case but very well could be
I'm really not sure how relevant the Taylor/Calzaghe fights are to this one 1) The respective competition is worlds apart 2) Stylistically, Kessler fairs much better against Pavlik. An unorthodox speedy southpaw is any stand up Euro style fighters worst nightmare 3) The fight would likely be at SMW, which may or may not be factor, Pavlik is a big guy One thing that goes in Pavlik's favour is under pressure he comes out well. He looked ****ed against Taylor at one point but I was impressed with his fighting spirit. Kessler needs to prove that Calzaghe was simply too good, rather than him flattering to deceive on the big stage Also RealIzm, Lacy and Kessler aren't the first to look bewildered. This isn't some sort of coincidence. You can't replicate Joe Calzaghe in sparring, there is nobody out there, so it isn't neccessarily a reflection on them
You might be right, but when you watch the fight on the replay a couple times, you see how many chances Kessler had to land on a wide open times, Calzaghe. I feel Kessler is a good fighter, he just needs to learn to pull the trigger when the opportunity presented himself, aside from a couple clean uppercuts he did nothing spectacular in that fight, and thats the reason Calzaghe is a great fighter and Kesslers just good.
Pavlik can cover up his weakness with his power at 160. At 168 He gets beat by nearly all the top guys. Are you serious Realizm on how one sided Pavlik would beat Kessler??? If anything it would be the other way around. Another thing is Kessler never mentally broke down. He was in with a guy a level above him and he hung in there all fight. It was competitive throught it all. **** i gave Kessler the 12th round. I think alot of people did. If he had mentally broken down he woulda just given up and taken his beating.
Realizm is living in fairytale land with this "Kessler is mentally broken ****" allthough I gotta admit he is kinda funny. Like you said if Kessler was really mentally worn down he would never have gone for broke like he did in the 12th. I would like to see Kessler Vs. Pavlik. Any fight involving Pavlik makes for good watching.
Pavlik takes out the Robo-Dane in 9 rounds or less at any weight between 160 and 175. Kessler said of Calzaghe "He ruined my boxing." What the **** is he gonna do against a guy who throws more punches than Joe, and hits WAY HARDER? Boo
Well Joe is unorthodox and difficult to figure out the only thing Pavlik has in common with Joe is a high punch output. That in itself won't be enough to bother Kessler. Just my opinion.
