---------------------------------------------------------- Pavlik hasn't fough anyone decent since Hopkins and to be honest now that Hopkins damaged him Arum won't wrisk him. He is promoted by the most greedy promoter in the business. Forget about seeing anyone half decent fighting PAvlik any time soon. Hope I'm proved wrong.
Thats one organisation. Macklin maintains mid top ten rankings with every major organistion including the ring! Salita was number 1 in the WBA but was barely top ten in any other body!
At the moment, there are three names Team Pavlik is considering: Paul Williams, Lucian Bute and Felix Sturm. I would hardly call any of those three fights cherry-picks.
Hence my point: Rankings are bollocks; it's ability that counts. There are better fighters at 160 than Macklin.
Yep Hopkins was a nightmare stylistically for Pavlik And Pavlik went up TWO divisions for the fight So I think Pavlik is still a bit of an unknown quantity
I'm inclined to agree. At this moment I couldn't say with any confidence what Pavlik could or couldn't do!
Think Macklin is too straightforward, Hopkins has shown that Pavlik struggles with angles and movement. Macklin won't bring that to the table though. He'll give Pavlik the chance to get his one-two rhythm going. Pavlik is a monster at the weight, he's going to be damn hard to beat in a shootout, you have to out-think him.
Pavlik was on OTG Radio with Paddymickey. Pavlik pointed out that part time boxer/full time college student Billy Lyell gave Paddy's boy John Duddy an ass whoppin'. They had a little tiff over it, and KP wouldn't back up. Paddy has been pissed ever since.
Macklin is only a slight risk for KP. Problem is he's a low reward fighter for him as well. Hope the fight dose happen as there styles should make for a good scrap for as long as it lasts. 8-9 rounds till Kelly grinds him down.
