DLH ain't gonna fight a big hard hitting middleweight like Pavlik. He can make plenty of money in big events against the welterweights moving up whom he has a better chance against, and whom are less likely to put a serious hurt on Oscar than the comparatively gigantic Ghost.

I dont see how some act like its impossible matchup because of the weights. Oscar was at 154 last time and has fought at 160 before. Pavlic was at 160 and recently moved to a higher catchweight.

 

Oscar wasn't very good at 160 though. He was undersized, he belongs at 154. He got a gift over Felix Sturm and got stopped by B-Hop, the only stoppage Hopkins has scored in the last 8 fights.

 

I actually think Oscar could give Pavlik real problems for a few rounds, BUT lots of guys gave Kelly trouble for a few rounds, and then got KTFO.

De La Hoya was not all that impresive at 160 (Felix Sturm and Bernard Hopkins). Pavlik wins easy.

Pavlik's pressure would probably wear down De La Hoya at this stage of their careers. However, it's not impossible for De La Hoya to box circles around Pavlik - it's just not very probable.

And if De La Hoya decided he wanted to fight Kelly Pavlik on May 5 - then Pavlik would fight De La Hoya on May 5. It would be a chance for Oscar to make history and for Pavlik to make a Golden Payday.

I don't think we'll see it any time soon - but it's not impossible.

I dont expect him to fight Pavlic, there are a lot of lower weight guys like PBF and Cotto for him to face. But if there was a fight at 160 that would generate a ton of money, then I could see Oscar doing it as he has in the past.
