Pavlik fight better than Bhop. Bhop Can't beat Taylor 2X while Pavlik dominated Taylor 2X & KOed him.

I agree, Pavlik is a beast that Joe would find difficult to tame.

pavlik made for calzaghe, even at this stage of his career..he hits hard and often but doesnt have a difficult style for joe to figure out....i think joe c might even stop pavlik late with a barrage of accurate 'slaps'.....

Calzaghe is/ was open for a right hand all night and by the middle to the later rounds Hopkins stopped throwing it. If Joe comes in with his head down like he did against Hopkins, it's lights out Joe.

You have no idea what you are talking about. But 70% thinks the same way so I wouldn't say anything bad because I'd get my head ripped off... it's just... you need to learn more about styles and the substance in boxing.

I'd say because of their style, 60/40 was the correct call before the Calzaghe-Hopkins fight. Based on their style, Calzaghe-Pavlik is 80/20. That 20 is not bad at all. That's Pavlik's KO chance. But unless he delivers it, it's an easy, easy fight for Joe. And I like Pavlik and he's on my P4P list for a reason.

exactly pavlik can only rely on his punching power to beat joe. if joe uses his footwork and quick in and out attacks (lacy, woodhall, kessler, etc etc)
i cannot see pavlik having anything else to adjust to, to beat joe. Joe has shown in his career he can adjust multiple times in a fight to beat a opponent but pavlik has not shown us that ability other then his punching power. but yes i agree if joe leaves his chin exposed pavliks power might be to much for joe to recover and hang on

I have watched Kelly Pavlik fight three times, and Joe Calzaghe two times. I wasn't impressed with how Joe performed the other night, but I realise it was mainly due to Hopkins having one of the most awkward styles in recent Boxing history. I saw Hopkins fight Winky Wright, Jermain Taylor, and Antonio Tarver. They are all elite fighters, but not one of them looked of any worth when they fought the aging veteren. That's too Calzaghe's credit, and Bernard's.

If I saw Joe Calzaghe fight Kelly Pavlik I believe Joe has more advantages than Pavlik. Kelly can hit, he can hit very hard, but Joe Calzaghe has shown a good chin throughout his career, only having been down three times in well over 10 years of pro boxing. It's true also that he was down against Bernard who isn't a big puncher, but it was more a balance issue, evidenced by how easily Joe regrouped after getting off the canvas. I don't see the fight ending inside the distance mainly due to Joe's ability to take a punch, and his superior speed. I also feel his unorthodox style and speed would mean there's a likely scenerio that Pavlik gets hit a lot more often than he did in either of his fights with Taylor. It's almost a certainy in fact. Pavlik has so far thrown the same combinations in all of his fights, and hasn't really shown evidence of adapting his style, whereas Joe has. Joe can box beautifully on the outside (Lacy, Kessler), and can rough it up and work effective offense on the inside (Hopkins). With this in mind, I can see Joe adapting to anything Pavlik has to offer, which has so far, been a one two combination.

    Joe UD.

I don't see Kelly having the power to KO Joe at LHW.

Also Kelly would not be able to deal with the speed of Joe as effectively as Bernard was able to.

The Pavlik that fought JT the second time gets outboxed by Calzaghe, just like JT was doing to him at some points of the fight.

Calzaghe is on the way down, no power to hurt Pavlik. He may not get KO'ed but will just run after he gets hit.
