Well, it's a funny thing with excuses, because they're sometimes more than just that. Just this week we found out, for example, that Bute had fought with a knee injury against Berrio, for the belt. Apparently, 4 days after he won the title he had surgery. No one has known, all this while, and it's only surfaced accidentally. Sometimes fighters go ahead with big fights even when they're not 100%. However, if they do, they should always take full responsibility for their decision and never mention their injury unless they win, not even accidentally. Otherwise, it always sounds like a mitigating circumstance and takes away from the other guy's win. I have to say I am disappointed the Pavlik family and team have decided to make excuses for Pavlik being outclassed in such a clear way.
If that's true then he should have been in hospital getting a thermometer up his ass instead of getting his ass handed to him by Hopkins.
Bronchitis would mean he would be short on breath and energy. He stated very clearly he never once was winded and was feeling fine between rounds. In other words bs excuses.
Everytime he said that I was yearning for Pavlik to reply with "I can't land with one jab you stupid ****, what good is throwing two going to do?" before putting a double jab between Loew's eyes....
True, and if he hadn't been in tip-top shape, would they have hyped up the possibility of KOing Hopkins as much as they did?
Wow you guys are really ripping into Kelly. His dad made the statement. Both Jack and Kelly gave Bernard his due credit. Bernard put on a masterful performance end of story. No need to turn something Kellys dad said into a circus. Kelly was gracious in defeat.
I believe it...in the post fight interview, twice Kelly looked like he wanted to say something about an "issue" that had occured earlier that week and chose not to say anything specific about it. I guess he and Jack Loew felt that it would make him look like an excuse maker. Credit to Kelly for not using this as an excuse after the fight.
