Too small to do what exactly? Give and take damage? Because that's why and when you mention someone being too small, and in this case nobody got hurt and nobody got KTFO, so it's a non issue. Winky had no trouble moving that tubby looking body of his around the ring, he was quick enough on his feet. Also, the ugliness of the fight was based on the performance of both men, not just one of them.

It would be interesting to hear Jermain Taylor's breakdown of the fight...

It was considered a 170 fight, he might not make 170 exactly against Hopkins either for all we know, as long as it's considered a 170 fight then it's a 170 fight, simple as that.

He will lose his 0, that we agree with.

Calzaghe's unpredictability troubled Hopkins like Taylor did. Pavlik is as orthodox as they come, and Hopkins should be able to pick him off easily, workrate or no workrate.

Of course he's getting less affective, what I meant there is very active in comparison to his two fights against Taylor where he spend half the fight throwing 8-10 punches a round.

Well, I can give you a schedule for a freight train. So predictable there is a printed schedule. Care to jump in front of it and stop it for me? I remember a football game the Jets were losing until they brought an ailing Joe Nameth in off the bench. Later one of the opposing defensive players was asked about it. He said they KNEW EXACTLY what Nameth was going to do but were still unable to stop him.

Just because the max limit is 170 pounds, doesn't mean Pavlik is going to weigh in at 170. He is training just like he always does, the only difference is that he won't starve himself. I guess he will weigh about 165 at the weigh in. He's not stupid, he's not going to get fat and slow like some people are suggesting.

My biggest worry, is that with his work ethic, he puts on muscle that he won't be able to get off easily for the Abraham fight.

He has to limit the weight training to avoid bulking up too much. He needs to eat well and train as he always does, with a strong focus on endurance and skills. If he comes in at 165 or so he should be fine.

Pavlik has fought above 160 a handful of times, and has fought at 169 twice, the result in his next fight going back down.....you guessed it KOs and one was against the extremely tough, durable and world ranked Zuniga. So lets stop the senseless worrying

Pavlik has improved his defense in his past few fights, and as long as he's able to keep Slopkins on the end of his punches he'll be fine. Theres not the slightest bit of doubt this will not happen

Prime Hopkins could have gone the 15 with at least as a good workrate as Pavlik has now. Prime Hopkins would have schooled Pavlik with ease. But sadly it isn“t a Prime Hopkins but a 44 year old one. Pavlik will beat him I think and it makes me very sad, I want B-Hop to retire.

I think the argument over weight is a bit exagerated. 168 would be a much more natural weight for KP than 160 is. He stays in great shape between fights, and still walks around at about 177. The one time that he fought at 170, he turned around and fought at 160 just five weeks later.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, about one third of Pavliks fights have been above 160. Someone could say, "Ya but they were all tomato cans," and I would say "they were rusty tomato cans with holes in them!" However, the fact remains that every one of those fights, except for Ross Thompson, ended in a quick and brutal KO. Thompson won one round on one score card. If an Eric Olds, Vincent Harris, or Ross Thompson type fighter had given Kelly a rough night, the argument about weight may have some validity, but that is simply not the case. Pavlik boxed a near shut out against Thompson, and the rest got beat up as bad as Gary Lockett did.

I think we also have to factor in the reallity that Kelly is a WAY better fighter than he was back at the time these other fights took place. He has shown steady improvement every since the Zuniga fight. I think McKart would beat Lockett, but for the sake of illustration, compare those two fights and you'll see an incredible difference in Pavlik.
