What an amazing dude. Has ridiculous amounts of money and is still in the game. I mean, I know there is financial incentive as a trainer but still... this guy could get fat and lazy but he doesn't. I know he always has that cheezy "Hard work, dedication" slogan but he lives it. From what I see in boxing, when guys get paydays they are more like Maidana than Floyd, Pac or Canelo. I think Floyd will demand a lot from the guys he trains. People always like to compare current gen fighters to old-time fighters always talking how "tough" the old school guys were, but ask yourself how many of those guys would have been the same fighters if they had made the money Floyd did.
But Floyd actually is teaching basics unlike alot of trainers nowadays, who immediatly start doing 30 punch combinations on the pads.
Yes when Wilt Chamberlain was coaching guys on how to rebound he couldn't understand why his players couldn't rebound the ball. His instructions were "You just go get the ball". Or if Manny Pacquiao was to train fighters he would probably be an absolutely terrible trainer and say "Well just punch them as hard as possible until they go down".
Agree with that but his personality and his love for himself will be massive obstacles for him being a trainer, the best trainers blend into the background can you see him doing that?
Hope it works out for him. Would love to see mayweather grow up tbh. Kind of feel a bit sorry for him sometimes. Wonderful career....terrific fighter...dedicated himself and yet cant get much love basically because of his annoying personality. As people have said...hes too focused on himself to be able to really help anyone else. Always feel he,d happily sabotage people to elevate himself. Cant handle anyone else getting praise too much....even if their clearly not as good as him. Probably what made him great but would love to see him draw a line under his career and grow from it. Hes not even that a bad guy...more annoying than anything else.
I see what you are guys are saying but many here are assuming he will fail because of his personality. To be honest, you gotta let him give it a try before you can really say that he will fail. Mayweather does not strike me as someone who will quit easily. I tried to find a clip of him that I saw a while back when he was watching Badou Jack - Jack threw a combo and at the end of it Mayweather chimed in and told him to get his head off the line once he get's the combinations off. Mayweather told him why to do it and then told him based on the combo Badou threw which punches to watch out for on the counter. He gave very clear instructions and it made perfect sense. Now I know that doesn't mean much but I made my original point on the basis that Mayweather will see even the smallest of flaws and instruct a fighter on how to tweak things very slightly to fine tune a fighter. His ability to pick up on habits and flaws would be a serious asset to any fighter who can take on what he is saying is the point I tried to make originally.
Goof point. One needs a strong mentality to be able to work with others. Not so sure Floyd has that. Seems like the type to get pissed if his methods are questioned even a bit.

True, but his uncle was a a successful boxer & damn good trainer & so is his pips. There is lineage there.
Very interesting for him to be a trainer. I hope he can impart some guidance to his fighters. Looking forward to see how his fighters turn out.
I'd just be worried about his penchant for seeking and drawing attention. Doesn't seem like a good quality in a trainer.
