I have the same feeling that Diaz will give Pac a Boxing lesson not cause Diaz is all that I just think he will for one night exceed every expectation
but only for one night sort of ala Buster Douglas. This flys in the face of all reason and sanity. Rational says Pac but again this feeling.

Agree on that kind of comparison, as basis of for the odds here. Especially that Morales also KDed Diaz.

But I would be surprised if Pac wins via TKO/KO at this point against Diaz. I just don't see it happening.

Every time the question is asked or a comment is made most people answer the same way as you just did...and I don't know why? :huh

Let's try againg. The 135 division is weak and might get better if the first three boxers on your list make the grade and perform well at that weight class. I think they will perform well and and at the same time will bring exitement to that division.

However, this just confirms what I have been saying and is the fact that the 135 Division is weak and has been like that for a while now.
Think about this for a moment. If Pac, JMM and Guzman stay at 130, they perfectly could fight eachother and also unify titles with Valero, which means that the 135 Division will remain the same (boring division) as it is and has been for a while.

In other words the 135 division is weak that the only way that this division become exciting, better or more challenging is by Pac, JMM and Guzman moving up (who are not at their best weightclass).

No need to worry that much. Pac is a 2 to 1 favourite but that doesn't tell the whole story... David Diaz is older than Manny and he is about his size. Diaz is stocky built, strong and tireless applying pressure but he's a mauler! Diaz has high volume and is hard to hurt but he's technically poor, and most important than all, he's not stronger or sharper at 135 than Pac. He was unimpressive against Montano on the undercard of Pac-JMM II ( one scorecard 95-95 after 10) so I expect Manny to feel at ease with a mauler that can't get to him easily and will not present the risk of hurting him more than the other way around... And the 130-135 pounds difference is essentially irrelevant or look back at Pac-Morales II & III and Diaz-Morales...

    I thought we were over this --->A > B, B > C, so A > C
[Morales has nothing to do with this outcome]

He has less than a 10% chance at best. How many of you predicting upsets have actually seen Diaz fight? He's B- level.. has little boxing skill, isn't an incredibly high output or high-pace fighter, has a shaky chin, a sloppy offense, a bad defense, and slow movement. Pac with a 20% punching power/speed/explosiveness decrease will still be the hardest hitting, fastest, most accurate puncher that Diaz has ever faced, by far. And Diaz will not be fighting just to survive, he's gonna be recklessly lunging into huge punches and it will be amazing if he doesn't get knocked out.

What are some actual reasons (not feelings) for thinking Diaz can win?

What you and Morrisey say is true. Some of my friends in my hood think the same way, as a matter of fact they think that JMM and Guzman can take David Diaz as well.

I think the only question for them is the weight issue, which I don't think Guzman and Pac will have problem with.

We'll se tomorrow what David Diaz has in store for Pac. I still think he will lose.

He's got a decent chance, it all depends on Pac . . .if he takes him lightly it will be a toss up. If Pac is on top of his game, Diaz has little chance.

    That isn't what I said.

And common opponents DO have something to do with determining an outcome, it just isn't the only factor. Obviously styles and other issues effect the outcome.

Diaz is a straight forward kind of guy. Not alot of variables here. Morales fought him, not boxed him, and nearly beat him. Pacquiao is not going to box him either and is faster, a harder puncher, and more relentless than Morales is. That is a troublesome combination for someone like Diaz who is not highly skilled. The Morales fight just illustrated this, and thus the reason it's mentioned.

I agree style makes fights, to me Morales should of eeked out a decision against Diaz, Morales was just boxing and not fighting Diaz's fight. At the end though Diaz looked like he could of gone another 5 rounds and Morales looked like he would of been KO'd if there was 1 more round.

Now whats going to happen if Pacman fights Diaz's fight, the size may play a major factor and Diaz has a high workrate.

I actually think Morales fought him plenty, though it may have been considered boxing for Morales. I thought he took Diaz's best shots and gave it right back to him. He moved around a bit, but I have seen him box more.

I just think any straight come forward fighter would get obliterated by Pac. I would think the same if Pac were fighting Katsidis or Juan Diaz. The only time you can have success with Pac is by trying to outbox him...usually height with good boxing skills + chin is an advantage or if your name is JMM.
