Roundtree is holding his own, I think he's up 2 rounds right now.

Periera is an ATG for sure, that was a great performance against a very game Rountree tonite. Who Necks?

That was an awesome performance. Shows that he's more than just power (not that people really thought that). He was methodical and patient. That was pure skill.

If he beats Ankalaev, whatever Pereira does next will account for climbing into my top 10

Pereira is an incredible striker benefitting from a weak era at LHW, and great matchmaking.

He would've matched up terribly vs. a DC or Jon.

You know it’s funny isn’t it. DC & Jones probably do beat him H2H, but in the grand scheme of things, Peirera is is 14 fights into his MMA career. 3 of those fights were in 2015 if we want to count them.

At this stage of his career he’s beaten 5 different former/future world champions including a TOP 2 MIDDLEWEIGHT of all time, become a 2 division world champion and knocked all of them out.

14 fights deep, Jones and DC were just starting to fight washed up fighters from the previous era, so I don’t see how the comparison is that relevant.

No, he`s an all-time great puncher but got sparked by the much lighter Izzy, He`s a weight bully, his reach, height and power were far too much for Roundtree despite a good start from the smaller fight, Alex would be destroyed by Aspinal.

14 fights in Jon was 23, and manhandling the greatest light-heavyweight to live at the time. He then cleared the division of every former champion & new top contender. Alex has beat 5 former/future champions... only 2 (1 being Jan who defense was against Izzy coming up) of them ever defended the title. They were merely placeholders or in a wacky time of the division. His resume with context doesn't hold a candle to DC or Jon (as of now). What he's doing is awesome, but it's benefitting greatly from timing and the division being at an all-time stale.

DC's resume is a bit weaker, but already by 14 fights in he'd won the Strikeforce Grand Prix beating Bigfoot & Barnett

That’s exactly why I said the comparison is pretty pointless. Alex’s resume now cannot hold a candle to Jones’ overall. Jones resume 14 fights in couldn’t hold a candle to Alex’s.

Jones benefits from good timing as well. He fought household names early that were all on the slide and don’t get me wrong, some of them are very good wins against guys that were losing as much as they were winning at that point.

Alex on the other hand is beating people in their prime apart from Jan.These wins will age and get better with time.

The Strickland one already has and he’s going to get a shot at becoming a 2x middleweight champ.Jiri and Hill are still probably the biggest threats in the LHW division apart from Ankalaev and will almost certainly get more cracks at the title in the future.

    Let’s give it time!

Who is Alex beating in their prime?? Izzy 1-4. (the one win is Alex) Strickland lost his very next fight after Alex. Jiri had to vacate the title because he completely tore his shoulder and had to get surgery. Hill just ruptured his Achilles.

Yet Jones and DC didn´t have a career in any combat sports prior to MMA. What Perera has done in so few fights is quite something, but his background should not be overlooked.

Yes, DC totally didn't have a career in any combat sports prior to MMA. None.

I wouldn´t say that wrestling is the same as kickboxing. Pereira had over 30 fights as a professional kickboxer and was widely considered to be one of the best P4P in that sport.
    DC wrestled.

I'd argue DC's bronze at the World Championship is more impressive then anything Alex did kickboxing wise. Understandably two completely different things, but you're right that DC was never the #1 guy like Alex was in kickboxing for a period.

I don´t know enough about wrestling to really make a comment. But I think a kickboxing career is more fundamental to setting up an MMA career. There are more similarities in their structures.
