Thomas was possibly the best heavyweight of the 80s outside of Tyson and Holmes, during his short peak. He had one of the best jabs in the game, and was a great technician.

Could he handle the Tunney of the Dempsey fights?

Tunney boxes rings around Thomas. Thomas stance all wrong to be effective fighting a boxer of Tunneys caliber.

Tunney never beat a heavyweight as good as Tim Witherspoon.
