His power is legit I reckon. Still hard to say 100% but I would think it is. The way he sparked Ayala made a believer out of me for his power. As for being fragile, while often that 'theory' seems to be the case its perhaps because punchers fall in love with their power and neglect defence. That's the biggest danger for Lemon more than having a fragile chin or something. I mean think about it, there is no logical reason why somebody that punches hard would have a paper machet chin That said, of course he could have just as any relatively unproven prospect could.
Good post, always, I assumed 'Lemon' was a dig, that's all I'm usually cynical when it comes to 'punchers' being touted but as I said above I agree wholeheartedly. He should make quick work of Rubio. I wouldn't pick him to outright lose to Williams or Pavlik either, with a quick start he will blast most IMO. Hopefully he can smash that average Lorenzo, or finally rid us of Sturm. Only Koji Sato is a bigger puncher than him at 160. What a clash that would be :deal Or a triple threat cage match with Paup Snith :happy Seriously though, he's only young as well. Very, very impressed with him thus far.
:good Not at all I quite like the look of him. Who wouldn't...at the very least he's going to be really exciting. Yeah I'd put him in with Pavlik and Martinez tomorrow, but Koji Sato is a step too far, career suicide :deal The main thing is, he learns how to not only stalk but to pressurize correctly. Stalking is great for taking down limited prey but against somebody with a real clue about ring generalship he needs to bring a little more to the table. Keep working on that defence. If he can do both of them he's going to do well, the natural power and offensive variation is always going to be there. That's natural for him.
All good points, his upper body movement will be key when cutting off the ring against the more talented fighters in the division. Following them isn't enough, he'll have to cut inside their offence (jab thrown out of fear) and get his bombs off. Winner of Zbik-Chavez would be the natural step after Rubio IMO. Chavez Jr wouldn't prove much else though, rather than providing a shot game; for every round Chavez Jrs chin holds up, you do five shots. He's appeared pretty durable thus far, though I couldn't see myself doing more than ten jagers Who would you like to see him in with after Rubio? Another touted fighter like Golovkin, Njikam or Korobov (very unlikely, the latter is way behind the other two in terms of progression IMO) or a 'name' like Pavlik and see how he gets on? I think he's going the WBC route. I know he's only just come back but Kirkland will no doubt never improve from the wild-swinging, and shakeable fighter he was at 154. There's another guy I reckon Lemiuex would have no trouble with.
Kirkland is still dangerous even if he'll never improve. Very dangerous. Especially for somebody like Lemon who is not going to be showing too many angles. If his jaw IS a little suspect its going to get checked in that fight. Not a fight he really needs to go looking for. Rubio is a nice fight for him. Competent fighter all-round but one you should be smashing up if you're the real deal. I think its the perfect fight to see where he is and what he's ready for. How I'd match him up depends precisely on how he looks in this fight as its essentially a benchmark. If he did a number on him, I'd say that ideally he'll be looking towards Sylvester/Geale as they are not very scary, you get your name on a belt, people will start talking even more. It sets up these other more exciting fights. I guess they'd be hoping for Geale to win as he's more game and likely to travel, I'm not sure they'd want to take Lemon on the road. But if a shot came up against Sylvester anywhere, they should probably take it and highly rate their chances to KO Sylvester.
Lemiuex could do with a gutcheck in terms of someone who's going to give him a bit of movement before fighting for a 'title'.
Lemieux does go head hunting and leaves himself open at times. I'd love to see him fight kirkland, that would be carnage from both sides....
Agreed. I just think I've seen Kirkland steadied a few times, and he's an accumulative banger. TFFP and 3KBattery, both good posts. What 'movers' would you deem up for the task? Winky is not much of a mover, but is at least durable, experienced and has a tight guard. Lemiuex is not likely to throw the amount P-Dub did, makes little sense I guess but is that the kind of fighter who could teach him something?
NDNJ is a genuine mover. That's more of a prospect/prospect fight though, and therefore very unlikely at this stage.
I omitted him on purpose thinking of a good gauge but not someone who is there as a potential winner. Outside of Hassan I couldn't think of any movers at 160 :rofl So I settled for someone who is essentially an experienced survivalist at this stage. Then again, he was never going to get much done against Williams (awful matchup for a low output fighter with next to no dig) but would he have more success with his jab against Lemiuex? I would say he certainly would. Lemiuex would have to produce a lot more than we've seen from him thus far. Good fight, but again makes very little sense.
Hassan is going to get sparked against Golovkin - gets caught way too easy. Tries to be a bit too flashy at times rather than just focus on his boxing. Did not deal with pressure that well against that midget Georgian fella.
Whatever happened to W3KB? I liked that guy. I think Lemiuex would stop Kirkland fairly early. He's just too open. Although there's a fair chance it could go the opposition way in similar fashion. I can't imagine he would blow Winky away, so it would certainly be a step up. Probably too risky at this stage though. :think I just hope they don't put him in with another Purnell Gates. :blood
Purnell Gates was certainly a mover Kirkland needs to get back to 154, that's his ideal weight class. Someone like Mora would be a good test for Lemieux - negative ****er with a good chin. He'd do well to stop him.
Who's that matey that took Abraham the distance? Lujing Simons (okaybthats not his first name, what is it?) any good? Only seen the fight with Abraham, who was giving one of his 'I can't be arsed' performances. What about Oral? Chinny but always comes back and works hard? I've got a funny feeling he got sparked recently though I might be wrong.
Agreed. Armenian chap he fought was also in a similar mould to that Gerogian and highlighted some of those weaknesses on a lesser scale. I've seen enough of NDNJ to know I'd take Lemon and Golovkin to beat him 9/10 times. Especially Lemon as a stalker. NDNJ does move A LOT, but he's not what I'd call an efficient mover like a Hopkins, Andre Ward, hell even Jean Pascal's clever showing against Dawson. He does a lot of dancing, a lot of unnecessary movements, moves too far outside of range. Basically thats a lot of wasted energy which is a problem when you're under pressure and need to conserve energy down the stretch. He's also been wobbled a few times by guys with less than stellar pedigree as far as power. So overall you only have to 2 and 2 together to work out he's not going to fair too well in this company.
