Pirog is a good prospect, but there isn't a middleweight prospect in the world that would knock Pavlik out. Kelly has good supplies of 3 things Jabobcs totally lacks. Ring intelligence, heart, and a ****ing chin. It is truly amazing how much hype this guy is getting for a win over Danny Jacobs. In the Walker fight we saw Jacobs have trouble with pressure. We saw feather fisted Ishe Smith buzz Jacobs. And, last night we saw that Jacobs is not a smart fighter; he fought like an idiot. Beating Danny Jacobs is a very, very long ways from beating Kelly Pavlik. At this point Martinez, Williams, or Pavlik, would demolish Pirog with relative ease. Sturm looked ragged in his last fight, but if he can return to form, he would also beat Pirog. Pirog/Lemieux is the fight that needs to get made. Let these prospects learn and earn their way to the top.

If you've followed the news you know that Pavlik and his team have explored the options for a November/December fight, and there isn't much to choose from. His preference right now is to stay at 160 because of the lack of options at 168 or 175. At 160 an over-hyped KO artist on HBO is exactly what Kelly needs. Even if he struggles to make weight, he'll still win. If he's healthy and feels good he'd win quick and easy.
I'm interested to see if Pirog could deal with a bigger guy like Pavlik who could dish some power himself.
