When people have lots of disposable income and demand is high prices go up, that's business. You make boxing sound like a virtue, its men punching each other in the face for money...

We all spend our disposable income on the things we prioritize. I can’t believe you are whining about the consumer now being able to buy the content they actually want. We are moving in the right direction as far as tv viewing goes. Embrace it.

Also, if this 9 year expansion and bull market in the US has passed you by without you improving your economic status, that would be sad.

Streaming is a reality and when TV dies out with the boomers it'll be the only option. a lot of your frustrations are understandable but @larsker for the most part is right. It's a reality we have to accept and it's not like promoters haven't robbed fans blind with ridiculous PPV prices anyways. Streaming free or otherwise is the future... Bellyaching over it won't change anything. I canceled cable a couple of years ago because TV today sucks and the modern prices don't reflect the decline in quality. I won't be paying for DAZN/ESPN+ but I won't be crying about their existence either. Is what it is

There's a whole bunch of folks who can't afford monthly subscriptions to HBO and Showtime. It is what it is.

Isn't the DAZN model designed to abolish PPVs? Obviously need to see if they have the fighters to justify anything, but given most decent fights are Showtime and HBO in the US, most people are already paying big money. I agree with you, in principle, about keeping the sport as accessible and cheap as possible. But $10, with no need for even entry-level cable to watch it? That's more accessible than boxing has been for a long time and I'm not sure that's too bad cost wise either, if he manages to get the fighters.

You started a thread because I asked if anyone as signed up for DAZN yet?

As I already said in response to yours, "Sorry, IB we're ESB bros but I'm getting DAZN just as soon as I can figure out how to sign up for the damn thing

Damn straight! I actually think some fans WANT their fave to be on PPV. Sort of like bragging rights., except it just costs them more money to give to the fighter.

People have a hard time adapting to change, some more than others. The only time I turn on my TV is to watch Movies [subscription w/Netflix/Amazon prime], my girl watches her stupid soap-opera [subscription w/CBS app], and boxing [subscription w/ESPN+ and a few other legal TV apps and subscriptions ]

That reminds me of a picture I saw in a magazine or newspaper years ago.

It was a black and white picture of (I think it was) a prime Foreman standing over his downed opponent, and on the top it had the words:
BIG MEN FIGHTING FOR A PURSE

I though it was a bit funny.

Really? I've never seen anyone insinuate such a ridiculous thing, but if there are people stupid enough to want to pay for a PPV instead of watching it free of charge then they deserved to get ripped off, but its just likely more hyperbole from you.

Streaming services are cheaper than TV subscriptions. I don't see the point you are trying to make.

And what current state is that? You mean the plethora of subscription channels and PPVs? But I got the impression you don't have an issue with that? Surely you think the current state is perfectly fine? I'm seeking clarity...

Given there are about 60m Netflix subscribers in the US alone, you can see the model works. A majority of those subscribers are probably sharing accounts between 4 or 5 people too.

If Hearn is able to get a stable of fighters on board, it's the best way forward for boxing, IMO and, if the rules with DAZN in other countries hold true you'll be able to share your account with another person. So effectively $5/month per person, if you want it, giving the promoter the ability to show all the fights on the card the entire day and not just a main event like we get with Showtime and HBO.
