Euro level and world level are interchangeable terms, Euro level is the level that all other levels aspire to be on. This is not a knock an American level fighters, there are some decent club fighters over there, nothing to be ashamed about.

    :blood:huh

Mayorga is one of my favourite fighters. If that fight is available in England, then I will watch it for sure. As interesting as Martinez - Dzinziruk is, I can see it being a very one-sided fight. Plus the undercard doesn't appear to be too stacked either.

:huh This is not a recent occurance. European professionals occupy the highest echelons of the sport, and thsi trend is increasing in intensity. European athletes are the future of the sport.

However, that is not to say, that there is no room for American athletes. American athletes will make good journeyman, gatekeepers, and sparring partners for green European athletes and faded Eurotalents. American opponents will also make good comeback opponents for injured Euro-level professionals or as confidence builders for European professionals coming off a loss.

You see, you should not be discouraged. American athletes will stil play a role in the sport, however, this role will be secondary to European professionals in most cases.

I'm not sure if both fights would be available :think. There will definetely be one, and my gut feeling is that it would be Cotto-Mayorga. It would probably be shown on Premiersports, an obscure PPV channel in the UK. Usually if 2 fights happen on the same night, they are on different PPV channels, so getting both is usually a big hassle, especially if they are happening at the same time.

I'm picking Martinez by surprisingly close UD. Dzinziruk is good, and has excellent fundamentals and jab, but lacks spark and is somewhat predictable. If Martinez fades in the fights middle rounds like he is known to do, Dzinziruk could have a good chance of grabbing a few rounds.

    Who are you picking?

    :deal

What a great post. That is Euro-level hall of fame for sure.

i like wat i see from dzin. great jab and smooth movements. martinez to me is an enigma in the sense that he gets so much credit for that huge knockout of williams but i think he still has lots of holes. If sergei can use his jab and distance an pick his shots he will have more than a decent chance to win but i think martinez will control the later rounds and i think he will win a ud but i expect a rather close fight.

I think cotto wins by ko but thats gonna be very entertainting all the way through(hopefully).

I agree. I think Cotto - Mayorga, without wanting to sound repetitive or cliche, will be closer than most think. Remember Cotto is coming off a long lay off, and over the months he has not been fighting, he has managed to put on a considerable amount of weight. He looked pretty bloated in between the Foreman fight and the announcement of this fight. Could this affect his preparation? Who knows. Mayorga has had a tune-up fight in which he tried to implement a different approach. He looked overweight, but he had not fought for years, and lacked motivation. For the Cotto fight, RIcardo will have more time to prepare and to get in shape.

I think Ricardo will cause Cotto problems.............but in the end, Cotto will overcome them to TKO Mayorga in the late rounds.

Interesting, but how do you explain the following based on this then: I assume you consider Dirrell an American level hypejob, yet he beat two Euro-level fighters in his last two fights.
