Floyd Vs Pea in Jab capabilities is near a wash. I'd give the edge to Pea because he utilitized it more. But if you've actually seen Floyds fights you'd know that his jab is money whenever he decides to use it. People talk about Oscar's jab in their fight but Floyd was crushing Oscar with his jab in the middle of the ring. Not to mention Floyd has a much better right hand, and if Pea's jab is considered one of the best in history, P4P Mayweather has the best right hand in history.

Pernell only had 2 knockouts in 10 years. Floyd has had a knockout 3 out of his last 6 fights. Pernell only had 4 knockouts above 140. 2 of those coming against journeymen Baez and Jerry Smith. Sweet Pea also threw more punches then Mayweather, and Mayweather still has more knockouts.

See Whitaker/Chavez .... that's it .... many may not like Floyd and there are plenty of good reasons but he is , in his own wa a warrior as well as exceptionally talented and I feel he decisions Chavez , the best promoted fighter I have ever seen, at welter.

Floyd was beating a gassed Oscar in the center of the ring in the second half of the fight, while throughout the first half Oscar's main method of putting Mayweather against the ropes(a tactic which worked quite often in case you guys haven't realized, against most pressure fighters Floyd faces) was by use of the jab.

Floyd has a better right hand than who? Pea? Pea was a southpaw you clown, his right hand was his jab. And no, I'd say Hearns straight right was a hell of a lot better, considering he took guys out with it, and it was just as efficient if not moreso than Floyd's. Not to mention quite a few other fighters who place right up there.

Pernell had 17 KO's out of 40 wins all 135 and above. That is close enough to 50%. Floyd has had 5 in 12 fights at 135 and above. Pretty comparable. Both are boxers, not punchers, so the edge doesn't swing greatly either way. And if you wanna talk journeyman or second tier fighters, how about Floyd's stoppage wins over Bruseles, N'Dou, and Gatti?

In that case I'll just say see Mayweather/Castillo I, with Castillo being twice the fighter he was that night. We are using the same logic to come to completely different conclusions.

Difference is, Castillo and Chavez are a lot more alike than Whitaker and Mayweather. Chavez being better than Castillo in every area, which helps my argument. Your argument is skewed by the fact that not only does Floyd not fight like Pernell off the backfoot(instead leaving himself much more open to being cornered) but he's simply not as good.

Castillo is also a lot bigger then Chavez and came into the fight against floyd ether over or about the 147 pounds .
No matter floyd adjusted to Castillo's extreme weight gains in there next fight.

Castillo is not a lot bigger than Chavez. He has slight edges in length due to his lanky frame, but both fought from 135-140 for a good portion of their careers. Also, Chavez is likely the stronger of the two, and by far the more skilled.

I don't know why people keep bringing up the Whitaker bout. yeah, he was slick too, but it would be like comparing Willie Pep's style to Nicollino Locche's. They are two defensive masters, but it's still a completely different style.

Chavez biggest threat stylewise is Whitaker. His movement would always give Chavez a lot of problems. However, Chavez, to me, is Mayweather's worst nightmare too. Mayweather is just too stationary on the ropes, which is where Chavez would eat him up.

The Whitaker fight should have no baring on Chavez/Mayweather. If people are going to constantly refer to the Castillo/Mayweather fight, then a better comparison for a Chavez fight would be his bout against Roger Mayweather.

People keep talking about PBF being against the ropes like he spends 90% of his time in fights against them.:patsch He isn't there that much and when he is he's effective there, probably one of the best ever. What we really need to be talking about is PBF outboxing Chavez in the middle of the ring where most of the action will take place.:deal

Why do you think it would? Floyd has shown that he's more than willing to fight with his back to the ropes if he is forced to do so, and he's never faced a pressure fighter of someone who can cut off the ring like Chavez. Floyd's willingness to be put on the ropes would be his downfall here, and his lateral movement wouldn't help, as it's much easier to cut off the ring with a fighter using lateral movement than fighting off the backfoot.

Floyd is very skilled off the ropes and in close, but he's not going to outfight Chavez with his back to the ropes. If he looks to pot-shot like he did against Castillo in the rematch, the ring will be cut off more effectively, therefore I don't see Floyd racking up enough points with his pot-shots when he is getting cornered as much as he would be.

But really, we are going in circles again, so I'll head off.

Will Chavez force PBF against the ropes yes but people act as if the whole fight will be fought with PBF against the ropes and it's simply not true. This fight will be fought all over the ring not just the ropes and when it is PBF has the advantage there and he will counter effectively while on the ropes as well. You make it seem like PBF is going to go to the ropes and let Chavez bang away at him and not do anything in return. People said the same thing about Hatton that he would simply rough up PBF put him on the ropes and bang away to his body but PBF beat Hatton at his own game and no one thought he could win that way. PBF's toughness, adaptability and inside fighting skills are underrated.

I think is funny people keeps bringing up as if Castillo can really beat Floyd bc he made it close on a bout where floyd is injured. Maybe JCC would hope Floyd is injured too in this fantasy bout.

floyd outboxed Castillo easy on the rematch. The judging for both fighters are wacked. I had 1 point ahead for floyd in the first match and 4 points ahead on the rematch.
