Cobb was a hard man. He would fight anyone. Hold his own.

better than a club fighter. He was a good journeyman. A stand up guy.

 

How great? He as a great journeyman who shared the ring with famous prize fighters. And he went to court and settled with Stallone over the movie Rocky which was great. Who knows, it's great that he's still around, most fighters from his era are not. Ladies and Gentlemen the " Great " Chuck Wepner. Always entertaining. In the build up to his fight with Ali, Ali wanted Wepner to call him a disgusting word that starts with N. Chuck refused. I mean who can forget the famous quote from his wife on the fight from the Ali fight? Wepner told his wife, a real large marge character that she would be sleeping with the heavyweight champion of the world that night. After the fight Wenpner's wife said , " Is Ali coming to our room or should I go his"?

 

He was a break or two away from being the GOAT.

 

True, fate can be cruel. The fact that we’re asking in 2022 how great Chuck was, NOT if he was, should be recommendation enough of his outstanding qualities as a fighter.

There is a rumor that Liston was supposed to throw that fight and didn't. That caused a visit from the big boys.
