....but it won't be Anderson Silva, even if he wins in 13 seconds, according to Dana when asked by Ariel Helwani. My thinking might be a bit out-of-thebox; if Schaub, a young, athletic American prospect, beat Nog with little hassle, will Dana bring in the newly-signed Overeem to fight him? I know it's not signed yet but hear me out. -Both big guys, with a flashy Fox promo The Reem would surely catch the eye of the casual viewer -Both English speakers, and polite guys who will show the noobs that not all MMA fighters are senseless cavemen (still the perception amongst some nay sayers of course!) -Both like to stand and bang -Overeem can be marketed as a massive coup and multi-sport 'champion' -It can be used as a no.1 contender fight. Then, the winner fights JDS-Cain on Fox, or it can be used to market a future PPV as well. I know it's not a title fight or two super-established 'faces' of the Zuffa brand, but coupled with a top-notch co-main event I think this could be a good idea. Any other fighters on the card other than Schaub that Dana could be looking at? Maybe the winner of Pearson-Barboza Vs Bendo? Or Rua-Griffin winner Vs Hendo (very unlikely IMO) All responses welcome :good
I dont think Silva is an good sell to fans, Anderson is just not very likeable. exmp. people wanted Chael Sonnen, dick-head extrodinare to end Silvas reign. I think that says it all. It would be unwise to sell the public Silva- and his English isnt very good. Forrest Griffin is always a great sell, but I dont think he will get by Rua this time.
Maybe it will be an Overeem vs Schaub and Shogun vs Hendo double-bill! Though Overeem would break Schaub's face in half, and I don't want to see two of my favourite fighters (Shogun and Hendo) fight each other, I didn't enjoy Shogun vs Machida II at all. Anyone else think Frank Mir would be a good choice for Overeem's first fight in the Octagon? That's one I'd like to see. See if Overeem is for real, or whether he's just Todd Duffee's daddy and nothing more.
sorry Popkins, tried doing that "quote after every paragraph" that you do but i dont know how to do it!
Mir would be another good choice if they're looking to fast track The Reem into the title picture....or rather to prove he can't hang with the UFCs best ;-) Schaub is being pushed into the 'new and fresh' HW scene IMO. I reckon him and The Reem is marketable and a good fit for the first Fox show.
The way you do it my friend is to copy the ending 'quote' tag, then paste it whenever you want to end the first paragraph, and then start the next paragraph with the starting tag, eg: 'quote=Beouche...' It's just a matter of cutting and pasting the tags however you want to break up the post. Example: All I did was copy the 'quote' end tag, and then paste it in after 'Popkins'. Drop me a PM if you can't get it to work. :good
Good shout, Pettis already has a fair bit of mainstream exposure as well. Maybe this with a Machida-Hendo main event ;-)
