Thank you, this is not just a great interview but an important interview as well. I also liked how Nelson seemed to suggest that he had malaria for the Whitaker fight as well. Is that an excuse you can use for more than one fight? I feel like after the first time it's on you if you don't get inoculated. Overall, this one is right up there with Nelson's "that girl"/"I'm too bad, baby" interview.

For Pacheco's finest post-fight interview, I think you have to look elsewhere. The setting is Ravenna, Italy, where Sumbu Kalambay has just defeated Robbie Sims in a WBA Middleweight Championship fight. Sims is telling Kalambay, "One more time," despite the fact that he won six rounds combined on the three judges' scorecards. Pacheco's goal is to get a word with the champ, but this proves more difficult than one would have thought.

Pacheco begins by asking(?), "Troppo difficile?" while pointing at Sims. This is a sign that he has done his homework. Kalambay is an Italian-based fighter and thus can be expected to know Italian. However, it is not Pacheco's first language, and Kalambay does not seem to know how to respond to some guy walking up to him and saying, "Too difficult."

This having failed, Pacheco tries a different strategy and begins speaking to Kalambay in Spanish, a language in which Pacheco is more proficient. "¿Una vez más?" he asks. You will note that he has given up on finding out if Sims was too difficult and is now interested to know if Kalambay has his eyes set on a rematch. Unfortunately, despite the fact that Kalambay is fluent in several languages, Spanish is not one of them, and he remains unsure what to make of his interviewer.

A new hope emerges when some guy in a suit comes between them. Identified by Pacheco only as "the interpreter," (it is possible he is just some passerby who knows English and has taken pity on Ferdie) he attempts to relay Pacheco's question (he has reverted to asking if Kalambay found the fight difficult) to Kalambay in Italian, but by this point Kalambay is getting hugs of congratulations. While the interpreter is asking the question again Pacheco decides that this is a lost cause and throws things back to Marv Albert. Truly a disappointment, but the magic of the internet means that today we can get both of these questions answered in an instant. Reference site boxrec.com indicates that, no, they did not have a rematch, and in an interview with ringtv.com Kalambay said that Sims "was good at cutting the ring off in order to stop me escaping. We had a fantastic match, the pace was very high in that one," so clearly it was a tough fight for him. 32 years later, Pacheco's work, which started that night in Ravenna, is finally done.

    Lewis "bring it"
    Bowe "I'm gonna bring it"

Whatever he's bringing must be on a slow boat from China.

Ali and Bonavena hammed it up great, Pre-fight FOREMAN-NORTON in Venezuela, Ali from color commentary, and Bonavena, had Joe Louis hold his jacket . it was a week after Bonavena went 12 rounds with RON LYLE , he looked great.
