Is there any real difference between "effect" and "affect"? It seems to me they mean exactly the same thing and can be used in pretty much the same ways. This coming from a grammar nazi.

 

Moochie (and everyone else in the thread), I have a grammar doubt (just one of my doubts).....
Scholl me on "for" and "to"......When I can use "for" and when I can use "to".....

For example :

-Eder Jofre for me is the greatest BW ever... or.... Eder Jofre to me is the greatest BW ever......Which one is the right form ???
Or both can be used ?

I know this doubt probably sounds silly, but as you all know english is not my first language. And I taught myself on the language, especially here on ESB, where there is people who write very well......Actually english is perhaps my third language....I would rate my spanish higher.....

To me is something Americans use most often.

Seems other English speaking nations bring out for me a little bit more often than me do. At least in my experience.

grammer and spelling snobbery is one of my pet hates. for me if an african can understand a posh twat but the posh twat can't understand him then the african is better at english. imo
