How well does JMM do against ATG 140 pounders?

 

Poorly.

I could be more specific if you want. First we would have to define who's an ATG at the weight however.

 

I think he'd do alright. Not too many greats in that division's history to begin with, but he could hang with damn near every one of them.

 

On the 'roids he's on he'd do alright. Mamby would outhustle him to a UD.

Let's not forget; Fedchenko was **** and Manny was winning at the weekend. JMM is not quite superman at nearly 40 years old.

 

Yeah, not 40 year old Marquez. JMM has been entering the ring at about 140 or so for years now though. He was over that for Pac II I believe. A more prime Marquez would hold his own with most great Jr. Welters.

He beasts a bit with them there roids.

 

Ravi Shankar died Tuesday, btw. Hence the avatar. I know less than I'd like to about the man and his music, but he seemed a really interesting fellow and a bit of a genius. The sitar has always fascinated me. I'd like to learn how to play it someday, but I imagine it'd be extremely difficult, and...well...I don't like extremely difficult things. But anyway, yeah.

Few years back he was briefly stunned by Juan Diaz and sat on his arse by Katsidis. Put him in with better fighters and I'm not so sure.

I think a lot of guys could put him on his ass. Finishing him is another matter. We saw him in with a much, much better fighter than those two and he did just fine on four different occasions.

 

The last two times 'roided up IMO.

I dunno', mainly my Dads, he has some live sessions and copies of vinyls that haven't been re-issued on CD I think, he loves his stuff has loads of it.

I like it, but it's a mixed bag for me, sonically, not always my thing.

 

Maybe. Probably, actually, for last Saturday. Still, roids aren't going to give him that calm under fire, which has been a trademark of his. Maybe some additional brute strength to his shots that happened to produce ridiculous and completely unprecedented effects on a rival, but probably not too much in regards to keeping composure and picking his spots. He could survive Pac, one of the better pure offensive forces we've seen in decades, without roids, and I think he's proven that pretty conclusively throughout the series.

I'm not saying he goes the distance with and troubles absolutely everybody around 135-140. Just most of them.

He seemed to wander about at times. It was probably the whole point of it all - musical exploration and what not - but I'd agree that not all of it is terribly gripping or pleasant to listen to.

A pretty interesting guy all the same.

 

140 is dammed deep when you count everyone who held a belt there. Canzoneri, Ross, Ortiz, Loi, Locche, Perkins, Cervantes, Benitez, Pryor, Mamby, Chavez, Tszyu (Fleas favorite), Saensak. Other guys who held belts there however briefly: de la Hoya, Whitaker, Mayweather. And there are a few guys who did a lot out work around that weight without holding the belt, for one reason or another: Armstrong, Duran, Napoles.
