Wow, I have had this discussion a few times One could well argue that there are ill-effects for that generation of colonized. But when the colonialists leave, the subsequent generations are left with the progress that the more advanced people brought. One generation's suffering is the next generations cars, roads, books, clothes, medicine, educational system etc. The gain outweighs the cost that the grandparents paid.

 

Colonization has really helped the American Indians in our country hasn't it?
