In all fairness Povetkin is a bit easy to hit judging from his win against Chambers, but Chambers throws straighter punches than Peter.

Povetkin was also extremely sick with the flu for that fight, so its pretty unfair to judge him off of only that performance. He is underrated imo because people only seem to remember (or have only seen) that fight. Trust me, aside from his punch output and determination, he was not AT ALL himself for the Chambers fight

Povetkin is a very tough fighter, but he doesnt have that one skill that sets him apart from everyone else. Good workrate, above average power, pretty good handspeed, not the best defense, and not nearly as strong as the other top 10 Heavyweights. Peter can hurt Povetkin, but can Povetkin hurt Peter? Judging by the poll the majority here says no, Peter has the power to end or turn the fight around with one punch, Povetkin doesnt.

I see this fight going 2 ways, Peter winning by 6 or 7th round TKO, or Povetkin winning by decision. If Peter could at least get down to 240-245, I could possibly give him a chance of out boxing Povetkin with the jab and sustained workrate, but if he comes in at 255 or something, he should look for a knockout during the first half of the fight, because he wont win if it goes all 12 with Povetkins good workrate.

I'm a huge Sam Peter fan, but I'm also starting to become concerned with Peter's lack of training, 250+ is not what he should be coming into fights at, I mean I knows the guy is built like a tank naturally, but not that big. I feel at 6'0 and a half, which is real height, he should be coming in at 235-240, it will help his stamina and hand speed greatly. Peter has the power, but that doesnt always win you fights, and there is fighters out there with the chin take your best punches and keep coming. I would like to see Peter continue improving his craft, and relying less on his power to win him every fight.

 You really see a lot of things, punisher!

By the way Sam Peter was no match for Povetkin at the amateurs. He didnt even dare to cross Povetkin's shadow then.I guess when he catches sight of the great Povetkin in the same ring with him Peter's heart will go right into his boots. Peter knows Povetkin quite well. The limited African knows that he cant hold a candle to his classy rival from Russia.Povetkin was a superstar at the amateurs.A super nova whose light was overshining all the little stars like Peter,Brook,Vidoz, and so on back at the amateurs.
Peter is just no match for Povetkin.

Not only that, but it's hard to think that just because Chambers had the handspeed and accuracy to hit Povetkin early, that every HW does. When you look at what Peter's strengths are, those ain't it. That said, Peter is starting to get a little underrated and is always a live 'dog, at worst.

Like Punisher, I think this fight goes one of two ways- a mid round Peter stoppage, or Povetkin winning late. If I were betting, I'd feel comfortable enough with it to bet on Povetkin. Under an optimal (but unrealistic) situation, I'd rather see AP go against either of the other beltholders first before taking on Wlad. That way when they fought, it'd be that much bigger.

Just a simple question for you: since Povetkin had won all mayor amateur tournaments for roughly about 4 years before he turned pro how the hell could he have ducked Haye like "the black plague".
    Difficult question,eh?:D

Peter by KO, Peter has too much 1 punch KO power for Povetkin who can be hit.

Peter seriously looked HORRIBLE against Maskaev. He was also hurt by an almost nothing punch. I think Povetkin would dominate his ass and so would David Haye.

Pah! Peter's power is totally overrated here. Jovo Pudar? Does that name sound familiar to you? An average journeyman from Croatia! No?

Besides Povetkin faced much better bangers at the amteurs and wasnt knocked out by them.Quite the opposite Povetkin hadnt lost a single fight at the amateurs for about 4 years before he turned pro.
Peter was stopped and kicked out of the last olympic tournament by Paolo Vidoz.
As you may know Povetkin beat Vidoz at the amateurs.
