Ike had a total lack of fear and regard for his opponent before or during the fight. His mindset was Mike Tyson-ish, but more intense. :yep

I'd fancy Ike to win this, with a stoppage being more than within the realms of probability. Povetkin is a tough customer though and so I doubt it would be a stroll in the park for Ibeabuchi. However, a late stoppage win for Ike would be a value for money bet, in my opinion.

Sure, he'd destroy both K's, based on competitive victories over a guy Wlad dominated far more than he did and another guy beaten by several guys Wlad beat in dominant fashion. Then they engaged in an elaborate conspiracy to derail his career. I just can't argue with planet crazy logic.

Ibeabuchi knocked Byrd out in 5 rounds....years before Wladmir decisioned him.

So how was Wladmir more dominant?

It took him 7 rounds to TKO Byrd in the rematch.

I remember watching Ike Byrd and thinking Byrd was winning fairly handily right before the ko. Never felt that way at any point toward byrd vs Wlad.

Chris Byrd Vs Vitali Klitscho : Byrd Win RTD 9
Chris Byrd Vs Wlad Klitscho 1 : Byrd Loss UD
Chris Byrd Vs Wlad Klit 2 : Byrd Loss TKO 7
Chris Byrd Vs David Tua ; Byrd Loss UD
CHRIS BYRD Vs Ike Ibeabuchi : Byrd Loss TKO5

When Byrd met Ibeabuchi he was just coming off straight wins against Ross Purrity, Bert Cooper, Castilio and had a record of 25-0.
Ibeabuchi demolished him and some might say that Byrd was never quite the same when he met Tua and the Klitschos. :nono
Even still, he managed to get a win over Vitali, making him quit on the stool.

He won a couple of rounds and then got sparked as soon as Ike found the target and he did it in much more emphatic fashion than either of the Klits.

He also fought him a few years before.

And what was Ike when he fought Byrd?

    An ATG?

They were both at the same level when they fought as was Vitali and Byrd when they fought.

    And Ike did the job.

The problems with the Byrd Vitali fight are well documented, I'm not one of the posters to claim VK "won" the fight, but let's not pretend that VK wouldn't have beaten him handily in a rematch.

The fighters you name that Byrd beat going into Ike fight would be laughed off as bums by most posters (not me, but there's still a big talent gap between them and Ike and subsequent fighters Byrd fought). He was quite green.

Byrd: Dominated by Wlad, ko'd in a fight he was leading by Ike, beat Tua,
Tua, beat by Barrett (who was destroyed by Wlad), effectively beat by Rahman (dominated and blown out by Wlad) beat by Byrd (dominated twice by Wlad)

Get out of here with your delusions.

Barely, on both counts. But yeah, Vitali had a full career. As with virtually every boxer, it came with loses. Ike never had a full career, he only fought two top contenders, and was in competitive fights with both. They were impressive, but there's 0 real reason to believe he wouldn't have also had losses, and plenty to believe that his inferior height, very good but not great power, and boxing limitations would leave him in bad stead in any fight against the K's or against Lennox.

That's got nothing to do with the point I made.

You claimed when Byrd fought Ike, Byrd was green, I said so was Ike. Which makes them about even.

And it was the same case when Byrd fought Vitali and Wladmir, they were at similar levels.

It was to part of your point, in implying that Ike is better than Vitali for beating Byrd.

For your other point, I found it to be too inconsequential to warrant a response. But so be it, two boxers facing each other while green isn't particularly meaningful towards judging how their long term career would develop. Ike may very well have beaten green Wlad at Ike's peak, or even a green Ike, against a green Wlad. But I'd say the same of David Haye, Alexander Povetkin, and a number of other HW's Wlad has beaten. It certainly goes on the resume when it happens, but this argument is about their long term ability to dominate and mutual peak h2h, in which your point is fairly irrelevant.

When Ike fought Byrd, Chris was 25-0, with more ring experience than Ibeabuchi who was 19-0.

Byrd was well known to be slick, a southpaw, and not featherfisted but had some pop in his punches.
When Ike caught up with Byrd in round 5 there was no way Chris could survive. The KO was no less than devastating.

Ike handled Byrd like any good quality heavyweight would; he just did it better than anyone else did.
Byrd was on the defensive for the majority of the fight with Ike chasing him down and finding the target more than most.
There was a certain inevitability about the result, in that Ike would eventually nail the smug, fat and not so elusive as he thought he was super middleweight - sooner or later.
