well, now since it's confitmed that Povetkin VS. Hammer will be the WBO eliminator, and the chances of Povetkin beating Hammer is about 99%, how do you see Povetkin doing against Joe??? I think he Povetkin will be the first to stop Parker.. Povetkin is more dedicated and focused than ever before. He's shown no signs of slowing down, and he's also changed his whole physique to a leaner, more muscular one, with the help of special protein shakes. On the other hand, Joe looked really sloppy and slow against Hughie Fury. So I got Povetkin stopping Parker in the later rounds, similar to the Takam fight.
Povetkin is now a somewhat unknown quantity now due to age and PEDs. But if Povetkin is the same quality he was against Mike Perez, Parker could be in some trouble. Povetkin the same quality that faced Huck, Parker will beat him.
Apparently Parker asked Povetkin for $4 million to have a shot at his title. This would mean there would be no need for an elimanator as Parker has chosen Povetkin for his voluntory defence. So far it doesnt sound like Povetkin wants to fight Parker as Povetkin has not said anything. Here is the link below to the thread we discussed this in... https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...to-fight-povetkin.595926/page-3#post-18835084 source provided by original poster houmzz The word in England and New Zealand is Joshua vs Parker.
Really? never heard that, and I read the Russian sports blogs all the time. The thing is, Povetkin has an insanely rich Promoter, and he is willing to pay top dollar $ for opponents, as we saw with Wilder, and with Klitschko back in 2013, that fight was Klitschko's biggest pay day in his career, thanks to Povetkin's promoter Ryabinsky. But it's weird that he would be scared of Parker, but not scared of Wilder? explain that one.
Boxing ability. If you were to be scared of Parker, it would be because of his speed, chin and his use of the basics. Parker does lack some other aspects like countering but overall he is far more rounded than Wilder. Wilder brings power and in this division, if they say you got power, its scary power. Wilder could be getting beaten up and then he connects with one, senses youre hurt and then throws and throws until the windmill starts forming. You mention the word 'scared' something I never said. It might seem like Povetkin is scared for not paying an easy $4 million which Ryabinsky can cover for bigger rewards should Povetkin win, but I dont think Povetkin is scared of anyone. Some might say taking drugs is a sign of fear. I'm actually not sure why Povetkin has not taken the offer, maybe he wants to fight the elimanator to warm himself up first.
Agree with all of this. Parker is a tougher fight than Wilder. Parker might also be Povetkin's only chance at a belt; he'd be crazy to give it up. This would really cement his legacy. Plus, there's also a chance that having a belt might lure some of the other champions into facing him. His time at the top is limited given his age.
Maybe he sees Wilder as low hanging fruit worth more money? Say, if he fought Wilder in the USA and flattened Wilder, what would that do for PPV sales in the USA when/ if he fought Joshua? I'm sure Joshua would drive PPV sales in Blighty and Povetkin would drive PPV sales on The Continent but to boost PPV numbers from the USA he would need to advertise himself there.
I'd be pumped for it. I would be pretty stunned if Povetkin didn't want to fight Parker. Lets be real about that. As someone said above, the timing and opportunity here for Povetkin is tremendous given the reputation drop he has experienced since the PED messes and that he's 38 and his style doesn't lend itself to aging well. As for Parker, I would be looking to fight whoever tosses me the most bones. Maybe Joshua and Povetkin sides bid against each other for it. All parties involved should be wanting it.
I saw an Eddie Hearn interview with him saying Povetkin VS. Hammer was for the WBA, not WBO eliminator?
