Let's not forget why three of those voluntary's took place ...

Wilder offers to fight his mandatory Povetkin in September 2015. Povetkin says he needs a tuneup first ... even though he just fought in May. Benitom3, UnleashtheFURY, and the Long Count decide it's Wilder's fault.

Wilder offers to fight his mandatory Povetkin in January 2016. Povetkin says he needs more time to train after his pointless tuneup with Wach. Benitom3, UnleashtheFURY, and the Long Count decide it's Wilder's fault.

Wilder signs to fight his mandatory Povetkin in May 2016. Povetkin fails the prefight drug tests. The fight is postponed. Benitom3, UnleashtheFURY, and the Long Count decide it's Wilder's fault.

    Prediction:

Wilder offers to fight his mandatory Povetkin in January 2017. Povetkin says he needs more time because he just fought a pointless bout with Stiverne. Benitom3, UnleashtheFURY, and the Long Count decide it's Wilder's fault.

First, Wilder has already beaten four guys currently rated in the WBC top 10 (Stiverne #2, Duhaupas #5, Scott #9, Szpilka #10). If Povetkin hadn't blown his drug test, Wilder would've already faced HALF THE WBC's TOP 10 in the past two years.

Second, Wilder offered to fight Povetkin in September last year and January this year, and Povetkin turned down both offers. (Which is why the WBC allowed Wilder to fight someone else ... because the MANDO - Povetkin - DECLINED TWICE.)

Third, Wilder did sign to fight Povetkin in May, and Povetkin blew it, causing the postponement.

The question isn't why should the WBC wait for Wilder to fight someone in the top 10 ... he's already beaten nearly half of them.

The question is why in the hell is Povetkin, who has turned down or caused the cancellation of THREE WBC HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHTS since last summer, and is rated by no other organization, still being coddled?

This "interim" fight just gives Povetkin another excuse to not fight Wilder in January.

I've been saying this for two years. Povetkin has never wanted to fight Wilder. Povetkin and his team believed the rumors last year that Al Haymon was going to create his own PBC titles. Povetkin thought he'd get a vacant WBC title fight if he just drug this out.

And now he's getting a vacant "interim" title fight.

Povetkin is never going to fight Wilder.

What has Povetkin EVER DONE to convince people that he wanted a fight with Wilder? All he's done is pass on two title fights against Wilder and cause the cancellation of a third with Wilder.

Povetkin's nearly 40 years old and he's never beaten a reigning champ. He likes to pick up vacant belts. That's what he does.

being WBC top 10 opponents means very little.
scott had just lost to chisora
dulhaupus had just lost to teper
    spilzka lost to jennings
    molina to arreola
    arreola to kassi
stiverne struggled with top 200 fighter rossy

WBC as all rankings decided by promoters influence.

wilder v povetkin is a fight most want to see / good gell of styles.

kidding yourself that povetkin has turned down all chances of a fight with wilder.

Expect to see Wilder ringside for the fight, ****ting his pants when Povetkin puts on a far better performance then he did in his last 4 optional defenses.

Stiverne has a dreadful workrate. He was behind on points vs. Arreola before knocking him out. Povetkin has an insane workrate. If Stiverne wants to have a chance he needs to know him out.

I assume Stiverne will be a 1:5 underdog here

Perez wanted out of boxing way before fighting poverty, perez never had a fighters head or never had anything resembling a heart. How some of you are so deluded to use perez as a "good" win for a supposed "top" hw is beyond pathetic.

Skills only mean so much and without a true fight mentality and a fighter's heart their useless against true fighters that can compete at championship level.

I'd be more surprised if Stiverne failed to chin check the pathetically over rated non championship level poverty

I don't get the big interest in Povetkin? If he knocks out stiverne then fair play.he never seems to deliver .we shall see.
