Power wise, which current heavyweights do you rank as great, good, average, below average?

Great power (no order): Wardley, Dubois, Joshua, Itauma, Zhang,

Good power (no order): Usyk, Parker, Hrgovic, Kabayel, Bakole

Average power (no order): Huni, Anderson, Clarke,

Below average : not sure.

 

Anderson certainly has better power than Clarke or Huni. They should be in the below average power category, along with Fury.

 

Fury's lack of power in his last fight has slightly surprised me. Of course he was never the biggest hitter. But the fact he managed to stun Usyk showed that perhaps he had above average power.

 

I don’t think Fury ever had power but he’s a 270lb man that can throw fast and snappy punches so of course he can stun people from time to time and even score a stoppage win here and there. Fury’s power is probably average or slightly below.

 

Hrgovic should be in average.

Parker, for the most part, probably goes in average, too.

None of the top guys are below average - but then perhaps we're being generous and some of them need to be considered as such... Depends where the line is.

 

I wouldn't rate Parker as good in regards to power TBH.

The Bakole fight flattered him that was against an opponent grossly out of shape, jetlagged, with 24 hours notice.

Outside of that stoppage Parker has never really impressed at world level with his power.

So I'd put him in the average category.

 

You say that, but Usyk ranks him as the second hardest puncher he faced.

Agree with your top tier. You don't want to be hit by those guys.

Allen has good power.

Wilder moves down from great to good.

Chisora has good power.

Hrgovic is only average power -- he's got the most accurate right hand in the division, lands a ton of right hands, yet he's not some KO artist. If he had good power, he'd be a KO artist.

Usyk is only average.

Huni is probably below average. Kind of sucks for Huni -- he's so technically good, but he's a pillow-fist with a weak chin.

Makhmudov is probably on the border between good and great.

Fury is average.

 

yes fair. I only had him in as he dropped Chisora, which Usyk failed to do.

 

Yeah but Usyk is a known troll and very hard to land clean on, it could be possible that Fury was the only one to land clean on him, because it’s no doubt that AJ and DD are harder punchers than Fury for an example.

 

Below average would be Jermaine Franklin on the top of my head.

I've never really rated Huni's or Pulev's power that much either.

 

He did manage to drop Chisora 3 times, which is a feat not many HWs was able to achieve.

 

Great Power: Dubois, Itauma, Bakole, Wardley, Zhang, Joshua

Good Power: Parker, Hrgovic, Kabayel, Anderson

Average Power: Usyk, Clarke

Below average: Huni

 

Fury is inconsistent. He can absolutely punch but he chooses to use lighter shots mixed up with heavier stuff to aid his movements and befuddle people.

If Fury really sat down on his shots consistently he'd probably have a few more KO's but he tends to box first, punch 2nd. Id have him in the good category.

Huni is below average the shots he was landing on Clarke were quality but they didn't see to have loads of effect.

Usyk has wobbled just about everyone he's fought after Del Boy and even scored KO's he's a better puncher than he's given credit for I think he's a good puncher as well.
