Lets not get off track, You said Margs a disgraceful cheater, Okay have that one, But lets not leave out Mosley who is also a disgrace cheater. So is Lamont, So is Berto, So is Tarver so is Toney they are all disgraced cheaters as is Jones Jr and likely Floyd TRT Mayweather
To everybody saying he should fight Canelo are missing out on the thought that Canelo is an unproven commodity in PPV drawing power, Canelo has never headlined his own PPV yet, so even a Floyd vs Canelo fight may not do the numbers that Floyd did with say Cotto when that PPV did 1.5 buys.
No its the promotion. No 24/7, no 1 million PPV buys. Simple as. Bet there's some poeple over at showtime thinking dam we ****ed up. Also Mayweather tried to play the grown-up card....and it didn't work....time to bring out the bling and the trash talk Money.
Don't forget manny non test taking ass. That's the real reason he isn't fighting Marquez or Bradley bc they want random testing.
During the build up to Floyd's fight against Cotto and Marquez, Floyd "**** talk" to them was very minimal and those two cards did very good PPV numbers that reached above 1 mill.
I think you are wrong in that Canelo would bring in a **** load of fans to watch the fight. But if I were wanting the cash in the maximal amount of cash on Canelo then I would want him to do at least two PPVs before Mayweather. I'd want that because you need time to build a story with characters. Like Manny, floyd and Cotto, they all have their media character and their set supporting cast members that bicker and squable or make jokes or whatever, anytime they are on PPV 24/7 fight camp or whatever. Having public familiarity is good for marketing. Canelo is big in Mexico. But he could be bigger. He could also be huge in the rest of the states and around the world. It would take a couple of all access shows (or 24/7 series) to expand his reach to a max level. After that is done that is when you should make the floyd fight.
Not surprising. Like i've said in other posts, I question the veracity of all of these 1 Million+ PPVs. It used to be really, really rare then it became every single HBO PPV. This despite the sport being less popular in general and the sport's main attraction (Mayweather) having a style that's not exactly friendly to the casual sports fan. Either way, who gives a ****? Showtime has a significantly smaller subscriber base than does HBO so it's a given that there was going to be a drop off of numbers.
