hah nah, I misread.. it's my mistake. He was referring to Cotto-Manny while I was thinking Floyd-Marquez (just woken up! forgive meh, lads!).

UFC 105 is nov14th as well (it'll be at the MEN & I should be going to that too, heh!). But that's a shite card. I don't think that one will have as much of an effect, tbh. It will have some effect on ppl who are a bit strapped for cash, but as it's not same time-slot & PPV... but rather tape-delay free... it's not going to stop as many ppl BUYING cotto-pacquiao.

    Yeah, that's what I've said. 700-800k.. probably 750k

Clottey wasn't PPV was it btw? (i'm not from N.America, i'm from England).
1.7mill is pretty good but SpikeTV attracts a shitload of viewers on its own re-runs of OLD events (like say ufc100 a few weeks later, or ufc79 a year or so ago). They tend to do really well on SPIKE.

But regarding Manny's last PPV number vs. Hatton
    That's the thing.
Hatton was a bigger draw than Cotto, even BEFORE Hatton's profile was raised in that epic build-up to the Floyd fight!

Miguel may have the 3rd biggest following in the sport but he isn't the 3rd biggest draw.

It's like the domino effect of all fights that can be traced back to DLH-PBF.
After that fight, Oscar made Manny the sport's main attraction (undisputed!) while Floyd's fight with Hatton served to boost both their profiles immensley (though thing is: Oscar made Floyd. Before Oscar, didn't Floyd have to go all the way to Atlantic City to fight Gatti  - rip, Arturo - not spewin' that hate on Floyd that some ppl giving him about not being able to sell that well, just saying that Oscar made him what he has exploded into today!)

I hear ya. The UFC 105 card is going to be on Spike for a reason...although you can't overlook the Pride freaks. If Silva and company throw a guy like Wanderlei on the card, it will have an effect.

As per Cotto-Clottey, It was on HBO. I wasn't making a statement in regards to the number compared to UFC shows. I was making it in relation to boxing. Cotto-Clottey was the 3rd highest rated WCB telecast this year. The only ones ahead of it were Margarito-Mosley (a whopping 1.91 mil) and JMM-Juan Diaz (1.73 Mil) so there is a lot of interest in Miguel Cotto. I think that combined with the interest in Manny Pac will lead to a lot of good things number wise. Manny has sucked from the ODLH tit which means he's now a registered PPV draw. The two of them should combine for a good enough number (I'm guessing 750K)

Hatton-Pacquiao did 800,000 buys in the U.S., allegedly, so I'd be surprised if the Cotto fight does worse. Less than one million buys will be disappointing.

There just needs to be a controversy to spark a rivalry between the two... pacquiao is too nice tho... I think cotto will say something to do so....
