Once his promotional dispute is settled, there is literally nothing left for Ward at 168 unless a) Groves beats Froch in their rematch or b) Kessler is chasing the money. A is no given, and B is unlikely because no deal can be done as of now with the promotional dispute ongoing, so Kessler wouldn't have that lined up to announce. Ward also was - tongue in cheek or not - talking about campaigning at heavyweight. No more SMW for him. No point.
There are no real interesting challeging fights for him at SMW, but there are some recycled bouts he could take. Abraham just said that one of the top fights he'd like soon is to rematch Ward and avenge his loss. If the fight were in Germany it could be lucrative. Not very interesting to me, but Ward could make some nice change. Ward says that he wants GGG, but GGG's management is keeping him away from him and not responding positively to Goosen's out reach. If GGG steps up that would be an interesting match at SMW. Ward says he wants Chavez. Now that the Chavez-GGG bout is scrapped, maybe Ward-Chavez can be made. Bika just said in an interview that he wants to rematch Ward and avenge his loss.
Actually there are more fight at 168 for Ward than there at 175. Besides Kovalev there is no one for Ward to fight there.
Him losing to Froch showed he was passed it. He just could not commit anymore on his punches. He has had too many injuries, he's nowhere near what are used to be. He should retire.
Stevenson-Ward can't fight Stevenson due to network issues. Pascal- doesn't have anything to offer ward as far as payday and belt is concerned. Bute- Froch torpedoed his battleship and he may soon retire Cleverly- has moved up to cruiser weight. Fonfara- who the **** is fonfara? He doesn't offer Ward ****. Hopkins- Again network issues and both being friends (know it sounds crazy) That leaves Kovalev who like Ward is signed with HBO. Don't think Ward wants to move up for just one fight.
I agree. apart from a potential groves match, there isn't much wouldn't want to see him fight Kessler again, and there is a lot of candy at LHW
His next opponent is not not known but the state : We are investing in a fight in the fall. We go to London Groves Froch May, but we are not there as tourists. He also mentions Andre Ward as a potential issue, but he does not believe that he can lure him from their home turf in California.
LOL. That's exactly what he said in his interview. I think he'd be better off at LHW than at SMW. He's already pretty much cleaned up there and only rematches are there for him. I.E., Kessler, Froch, Abraham. I'd rather see Dirrell fight a comeback match with Kessler and then face Ward.
